2. The New Kid.

As Lily walked to class..she heard some girls snickering behind her.
She turned the corner hoping to lose them.
She ducked into the girls restroom.
She took a deep breath and sighed.
It's true she wasn't popular, but she wasn't an outcast either.
But that didn't stop people from picking on her..
As Lily exited the restrooms, she checked her phone for the time.
" Oh God!" She had 3 minutes before biology started.
As she raced and ran through the halls.
She made it to her class in the nick of time...literally.
" Ah, Ms. Russell!" She heard someone say behind her.
She whipped around to see her teacher.
" Why hello there, Mr. Jones!" She replied back. smiling profoundly.
" A perfect score! as usual" he said passing her yesterday's test.
Lily took the test and gave him a small smile.
"Thanks!" She said before walking away.
Lily took her seat in the second row.

The sound of talking woke Lily out of her Daydream.
"- as I was saying before..Maddox here, Is from Alberta, Canada!"
" Isn't that interesting!" Mr Jones finished.
" Well Maddox if you would kindly take your seat next to Lily over here.."
He said pointing to the open seat next to Lily.
"Thanks" Maddox said quietly before taking his seat.

" Alright class, pop quiz!" Mr Jones said loudly.
Basically everyone in the room groaned.
Well almost everyone.. Not the mysterious new kid sitting by her.
He should be the most freaked out considering he knew none of the material. She studied his a features carefully.
Black hair, Dark brown eyes, olive complexion and a Grey and black beanie hat.
"Interesting." She thought.

The pop quiz had started the timer was ticking down slowly.
Lily was almost finished, glancing down at her paper..
Lily was stuck on a problem. Looking around sometimes helped her think.
As she looked around the room she saw almost everyone was having trouble too. Tapping their finger or pencil on the table or holding their head in they're hands..Except for one person..Maddox.
He was just sitting there.
His paper pushed to the end of the table.
" what the heck, he can't be done!" She thought.
" There is still 20 minutes! " She followed up her thought.
Quickly returning to her paper..." yes!..I got it" she thought.
Finally the answer to her problem!
Quickly writing down the answer adding an extra loop to the Y on the end,  With 15 minutes to spare she pushed her paper to the end of the table.
" And done." She thought. Taking in a sigh of relief.
