24. Grace?

I was about to do something kinda illegal.
Well I mean not Technically illegal"
But it wasn't super "non illegal" either

I wanted to break into the school
office and find Lily's school records.

No, I don't think Lily was- Is a criminal.

I just think there could be something we are overlooking. Maybe bullying? Maybe a history of running away?

I walked into the school at exactly 5:00 Am, Yes, three hours earlier than school started. Hopefully no teachers would even be in till 6:30ish.

Even though no living human was in HillCrest public high school at 5:06 am I still tiptoed silently through the halls. The school seemed so small and calm without a bunch of High schoolers running around.

I softly slipped inside Principal Wexler's Office the student files had to be around here somewhere.

I looked in the cabinets under the desk only to find some old newspapers. I look in the big metal shelving unit left of the desk. I pull open the last drawer to find all the student files. At least he can alphabetize. I thought.

Wow! I thought looking at the files, I guess I didn't realize how many students were in this school. There were over a hundred files! Which is pretty interesting for a super small town. I looked in the L's trying to find Lily's name. "Lily Russell" I thought. Thumbing through the files.
I made it to the end of the L's. Nothing. Maybe it's under Russell? I thought, I moved over to the R's. Again, Nothing.

Now I was pretty darn desperate. I started from the A's and worked down. I made it to G before spotting Grace Russell in between Gina Lopez and Gianna Harper. Okay maybe not as alphabetized as I thought.

I pulled the file out and as soon as I did I felt a hand on my shoulder.
