Let's go back three hours. I'm in my dressing room getting ready. My hair is white and in a bohemian braid resting on my right shoulder a pink bow at the bottom. I wash my pale face and dry it. My eyes are dark (like usual) and I have purple shimmery eyeshadow on. Black smooth eyeliner, long charcoal eyelashes. Blush colored matte lipstick is placed on my delicate lips. I have a pastel amethyst bodice that covers my shoulders on my dress with a snow-colored floor length skirt. I walk over to my shoe stand and grab my coral colored shoes and pale gloves that went up to my wrist. I was ready. I left and went to go find my betrothed. I find him hiding from Iris. His brown hair is neatly combed and in place. He has a black tux top, black dress shoes, with... red pants? "Whats with the red?" I asked. "Oh. Well I figured you would do something stupid like not wear your house colors, which you did, so I wore it for you and red is part of my house colors." he responded. "Hey! It's not my fault that my original red dress the queen gave me "accidentally" went out the window and all that was left was this one." I shot back. "Wow you are honestly hopeless." he laughed. "Oh shut up, you know you love me." I responded. Jacob's face turned bright silver. Ugh, why do I always say the stupidest things? "So what was Iris doing this time?" I asked. "Begging for a dance." he responds. My face contorts to have a disgusted look. "But I said that I'm saving all of my dances for someone special." he adds. Wait did he just say that? A fun jazz song came on. "So do you want to dance?" YES "Sure." I respond casually trying not to appear too excited. We make our way out to the ballroom floor. Were quiet for the first few seconds. He isn't the perfect prince like my brother but there is something in him that I feel like I haven't seen before. It's a calmly relaxed vibe not like Cal's constant serious expression. "Oh did I tell you the good news?" I asked. "No, what is it?", he responded. "The Queen hasn't given me any shit about my dress.". I whispered. "Again, you are hopeless.", he laughed. We danced and were laughing until the song was over. "Hey, I'm going to go grab some water, want any?", I asked. "Nah, I'm good.", I walk over to get some water and I hear the Queen's voice in my head. "How dare you not wear the dress I gave you.", It claws at my skull making my headache. "I told you, it flew out the window." I say blandly in my head. I rush to get water. As I drink it the cool water Iris, purposely, walks into me causing me to spill water everywhere on my dress. "Oops." she says in mock remorse. "Doesn't water stain the dress you're wearing." she gloats. "I would love to insult you, Iris, I really would, but nature did a damn good job and I can't compete." I throw right back at her. I rush to the hallway and generate a flame. And dry my dress. Luckily the water wasn't there for too long. I hear a soft noise coming from farther down the hallway. I follow it and see a little red servant girl crying on the floor. She has cuts all over her body. Most likely Evangeline or Iris' work. I rush towards her and she flinches. "Oh. No sweetie, I'm going to help you not hurt you." She remains silent. "Let me go get Sara Skonos. Stay here, I'll be right back." I rush to go find her. I find her in one of the hallways. I have her follow me back to the red girl. She is still on the floor. "Hurry, please. If the Queen sees me I'm actually dead." The young girl nods her thanks to the both of us silently and rushes off. "Thank you so much, Sara." I tell her gratefully. She nods her head and rushes away. I begin to walk back and then I crash into Cal. "Hey Belle, want to dance?" he asks. That's my brother for you, blunt and straight to the point. "Sure. I won't make Evangeline jealous will I?" I ask sarcastically. He rolls his eyes and takes me to the dance floor. We dance silently for a few minutes until Cal decides to ruin it. "I'm concerned about you and Jacob." He states randomly. "What? Why?" I reply. "You two just seem really friendly and close." "What's wrong with that?" "You have to marry for the good of Norta, you can't succumb to your feelings." Cal says gently. Excuse me? Did he seriously just say that? "Just because you and Evangeline are being forced into a loveless betrothal doesn't mean the rest of us are." I say sharply. I break free of his arms and storm over to where Jacob is standing. He's talking to Emma, Maven, and Aya. "Wait Belle!" Cal calls after me. I ignore him and continue walking. "Hey Bela, we were wondering what-" I cut Jacob off by grabbing his face and kissing him on the lips right there in front of everyone. "Hey sorry about my disappearance, something came up." I say as if I didn't just kiss my betrothed for what appeared to be no reason. Everyone stared at me with their jaws dropped. Well everyone but Jacob he had a dazed look on his face. We continued the night as if nothing had happened. Just kidding that only happens in a perfect world. If anything this was just the beginning.
