I watch with no emotion as my best friend falls to the floor. My mind doesn't even begin to process the first thing we were told as everyone rushes to her side. Everyone but Evana, Mother, and I. My vision becomes hazy but I remain awake and standing. My breath becomes shallow and yet no one sees. I look to Tom. His eyes are filled with worry for his sister. I turn and exit the room, unable to stand the suffocating atmosphere. I didn't know where I was going. I turned corners, hoping someone was there, hoping someone would stop me. I finally stumbled back to the ball. By that time, the others were already back and waiting for me by the stage. I knew it was about time to leave on the boats but I didn't know if I had the strength to put on the same fake smile that came so easily to the others. I noticed Aya's absence and concluded she was already on the boat. I made my way to stand next to my mother and she announced we were leaving. We left the palace and went to the boat with our designated house colours. We were all to ride one with a house Calore flag and the royal crown printed on the side. I sat next to Tom on the deck, still processing everything going on. Tom grabbed my hand making me look over. We stared into each other's eyes for a while before I turned my head away. I gently pulled my hand from his and stood. I stood at the edge of the railing. My eyes followed the currents of the water, trying to forget. Forget the shadows looming above me. For a moment I had fooled myself into thinking I was no longer behind Tom but I knew I was holding him back. Tom's presence beside me startled me. He asked, his voice shaking, "Are you still mad?" I looked down further. "Yes, but not at you."

I'm sorry for not updating, but lets be real, who actually reads this? I've gotten zero comments on this story and all the votes come from the other two writers. Maybe thats why I've gotten lazy. Unlike other writers, I have nothing to look forward to each update. No nice comments, no bad comments, no votes, no one adding this to a reading list. I'm sorry. I'll shut up now.
