Everyone but Tom left and I let the small fake smile on my face drop. I looked down, allowing my scarlet hair to cover my tear stained face. Before I had looked away, I saw that Tom had changed into night clothes. Tom's footsteps drew closer to my bed and I threw my legs over the side of the bed, standing up before he could reach me. I walked hastily to the fire proof room, closing and locking the door behind me. I heard Tom sit on my bed as he respectfully waited for me. I wasn't going to come out for a long while. I lied down in the center of the room, allowing the flaming sphere to engulf me once more. This time, no more tears fell. I didn't need the extra lessons. I am in full control of my power. I made that sphere of fire on purpose. I didn't want Tom to touch me. I still don't. I let my emotions control me once more as the flames lick my arms. I love the feeling. Being a burner, I can't get hurt by them. They feel somewhat like an old friend. My eyes shut and a warm, peaceful sleep engulfs me.
*Le time skip to morning*
I wake up with the flames still burning bright. I heard several knocks on the door. I allow the flames to die and I open the door, stepping out. "You were in there all night. I was worried." I heard Tom's gentle voice say as he reached out to grab me. I side step him and move to my closet. I pull on a simple red dress and tie my hair up in a messy bun. "Em?" Tom breathes the word out. I say nothing and move to my vanity, placing my silent stone headband on my head. "Emma?" Louder this time. As I walk to the door, I take note of Tom's casual clothes. A simple white shirt and dark blue jeans. I leave the room and walk in the direction of the dining hall. "Emalyn?" Practically shouting now. I continue to ignore Tom, my crimson dress flowing behind me as his hurried footsteps echo through the hall. "Emalyn Evana Calore!" I stop dead in my tracks at the sound of my full name. I turn my head slightly to look back at Tom, my face devoid of life. He looks shocked at my facial expression. I flick my flame-maker bracelet and allow the flames to rest at the edge of my fireproof dress. They flicker up and down as I begin to move once more. "I am in control of my power. I created that flame on purpose in order to stop you from touching me." I explain, my voice dead and bland. My headband was now being held by some red girl. I waved my hand signaling her to place it in my room. She rushes off and I continue walking, devoid of any emotion. "What happened to you Em?" Tom asked quietly now walking only slightly behind me. I smirked at his question, showing a slight flicker of life in my face. "I am a princess. I was raised like this. I shall do a better job of hiding my emotion as of today." Tom's footsteps stopped but I didn't even look back. I heard heavy footfall in the opposite direction as Tom hurried off somewhere. When I arrived at the dining hall, it was only the girls. Mother sat at the head of the table with Isabela and Evangeline on her right and an empty seat to her left. Next to that empty seat was Aya. I took the seat next to Mother and we began our meal. I had long since put out the fire at the bottom of my dress. Breakfast was completed in silence and mother dismissed us. Bela and Aya caught up with me and Bela cheerfully told me she and I were going to train today. I waved dismissively and walked away without saying a word. "Aya!" Tom called out to her as he passed me in the hallway, a sad look crossing his face as he did. I made it to my room peacefully and closed and locked the door. I then made my way over to my desk and pulled out my journal and inks. I closed my eyes and my hand began to move on their own, painting a picture I wish I could see.
