When we get to the cafeteria we pick up what they're serving, then Thomas start to walk toward a table. He motions for me to follow and I end up by Thomas. He joins in his fiends conversation, "oh guys this is Emerald. Emerald, this is Zeke, Shauna, Uriah, Marlene, Lynn, Will, Christina, Four, and T-Six," he points at them as he says their names. "Omg you took my advice!" Christina squeels. "Wait, what advice?"
"Emerald, you did good today," Six says.
"This morning she came into that store I'm always at and went right for the boring t-shirts, so I gave her shopping advice. She reminded me of the way you shop, Six. And what do you mean by 'did good today'?" Christina answers. Four than says, "she's a good shot, but not as good as I am." Then Zeke says sarcastically, "no one is as good as you. That's why you are one of the instructors."
"So, Emerald, what did you do after training?" Six asks. But before I can answer the question Thromas says, "I found her by the chasm while on my break. Then I gave her a tour and then gave her this." Thomas holds up my hand to show the tattoo. "That's amazing," Marlene says.
"I know I am," Thomas replies.
"That's not what I meant," she says laughing along with the rest of the table.
"Emerald, Zeke and I are throwing a party tonight and after the party is over everyone leaves except our friends, then we play condo or dauntless. Do you want to come? It starts at 9:00," Uriah says.
"I'd love to go, but I don't know if the wardens will let me." Everyone looks at Four and Six. Six then says, "I might be able to talk to them"
After dinner, Thomas and I walk to the chasm and hang our feet over the edge. "What's condo or dauntless?" I ask.
"I forgot you were a stiff. Someone asks you truth or dare, if you pick truth you have to answer a question truthfully. If you pick dare then you have to do whatever they say, if you don't want to answer a truth or do a dare you have to remove a peice of clothing, socks and shoes don't count."

Thomas and I walk to Uriah's apartment, Thomas nocks on the door. I can feel the vibration of the music through the floor. Uriah opens the door and we walk in. The smell of alcohol is strong, "you want something, Emerald?"
"No thanks"

After Zeke, Four, Thomas, and Uriah get everyong out we sit in a circle. "I'll go first," Uriah says. He looks around, "Six, truth or dare?"
"Dare"
"I dare you to play seven minutes in heaven with Four." She grabs his hand and they walk to the closet, I think they're a couple. After the time was up Uriah opens the door and Six and Four fall to the ground.
Then Six asks Christina, she says dare. And the game continues. Then, with an evil smile, Uriah says, "Thomas, truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Thomas, I dare you to kiss Emerald." Thomas looks a little mad, then he leans over and kisses me on the cheek. Heat rushes to both of our faces. The game ended at 12:00. "Let me walk you back to the dormitory," Thomas says.
"Okay," I reply. We start walking, "Um... Emerald, about that kiss... I um."
"It's okay," I interrupt him. I like Thomas but I can't... I really want to, I wish I could, but what if he doesn't like me like that, only as friends.
"Night," he says. "Goodnight, Thomas." When he walks away I stand in front of the door, thinking of everything that's happened today. Then I see five figures.

They attack me bringing me to the ground. One of them gets my right leg, another gets my left leg, and to of them hold my arms down. The 5th gets on top of me. I see who it is, the the girls from my class. "How did you get one of the hottest guys in Dauntless to be your boyfriend?" Confused I ask, "who are you talking about?"
"Thomas you idiot!"
"He's not my boyfriend."
"Whatever."
"I'm not lying!" She punches me in the jaw, "girls, do you think he will still date her if she has an ugly scar on her face?" One of the girls puts their hand over my mouth and takes out a knife. She cuts my face,starting half an inch away from my eye and cuts down my left cheek to my jaw. I cry out in pain. "Leave her alone!" I hear someone yell. It's Thomas. The girls take off running then he helps me up, "come on, you need to go to the infirmary."
"No I don't need to go, it's not that bad."
"Fine, then come on, you can get cleaned up at my apartment."

He sits me down on his bed then goes into the bathroom for the first aid kit. When he returns he hands me two pills, "it will help with the pain." He explains. He starts to clean up some of the blood off my face, then he grabs a medical needle and thread. "The cut is going to need stitches, so stay still."
"Are you a doctor or something?" I ask.
"I said to stay still, and I'm not a doctor." After he finishes I ask, "so if you're not a doctor then how did you know how to do that?" He smiles, "I've had my fair share of visits to the infirmary."

He sits next to me on the bed, "I'm sorry Uriah dared me to kiss you. Last year he told me that he liked Marlene, and I dared him to kiss her... so that's why he did that." He hesitates for a second, "earlier I was trying to say that I... I like you." I can't help but smile, "I like you too." He brings a damp rag to my face then leans in and kisses me. When we break away he backs up. "Sorry, I-" I cut him off with a kiss.
