I was looking at dresses trying to figure out what dress to wear to C's family dinner. Why did I agree to this again? Oh that's right because I'm certifiably insane.

There was a knock at my door. I tossed the dresses down and went and answer it.

"You're not dress yet," he said pointing at me.

"Because I can't decide what to wear," I sighed.

I turned and walked back into the bedroom. He followed after me. I stood there with my hand in my hip and played with my bottom lip with my other, trying to decide what to wear.

"Well, they look nice on the bed," he said with a look and shrugged.

I looked at him and rolled my eyes, "not helping."

"How about that one?" He picked up a dress and held it up to him.

"I don't know."

He tossed it aside, then picked up another.

"This one?"

"Maybe."

He tossed that one aside.

"This one?" He raised his eyebrows up and down.

I gave him a look.

"Just put it on or we are going to be late." He shoved the dress at me and I snatched it from his hands. Then I promptly pushed him out of the bedroom and closed the door.

After ten minutes I emerged wearing the dress.

"Good choice." He grinned. I gave him a look and shook my head.

I grabbed my coat and purse and pushed him out of the apartment.

"Damn you're pushy today."

"Well, it doesn't help when you have to get ready quickly."

"Only because you waited to decide what to wear." He smiled and I groaned. This was going to be a fun dinner.

We pulled up to a house and got out of the car. I stood there and looked at it. My eyes widened at how big it was. Holy hell this place was monstrous.

I felt someone slide their hand into mine. I looked down to see C was holding it. He gave it a gentle squeeze and I could feel myself relax.

We walked up to the door and he opened the door only to be met by a maid. She took our coats then I heard someone say, "darling! It's so great to see you!"

A woman in her early fifties walked towards us. She was extremely polished. She gave C a hug and kiss on the cheek. Then she turned her gaze upon me. Great. Here comes the judgement.

"And who is this exquisite young woman?"

Okay maybe I was wrong.

"Mother this is Seraphina Lockwood," he introduced us.

She gave me a soft smile, "what a beautiful name for a beautiful lady."

"Thank you for the compliment," I thank her.

"And so polite. Even better. Come. We have people to talk to," she said as she grabbed my hand and dragged me behind her. I turned and looked at C who shrugged. Thanks buddy.

We walked into the main room and there was an older gentleman, Joshua, a girl and another guy. I had no idea who these people are, well except Joshua.

"It seems we have company. This is Seraphina. Seraphina, this is my husband, Gerald. Joshua, Raymond and Morgan," she introduced me.

They all converged on to me and gave me a hug.
