After finally relenting about the car, I did have to admit it made things so much easier with trying to take care of things and getting to destinations more quickly.
Monday morning came quickly and I opened the door to the house. I hung up my coat and purse and made my way to the kitchen. As I started to make breakfast, I decided a little music would be nice. Once I found a song, I let the medley float through the air and got to work.
Then I felt someone grab ahold of me causing me to yelp.
"Connor!"
"Dance with me," he said as he took me in his arms and started to move around the kitchen with me. I couldn't help but giggle. We danced around the room until the song ended, then he released me.
I walked back over to the counter, "someone is sure in a good mood."
He walked over and joined me, helping me with breakfast.
"Haven't done that in years. It felt good," he smiled.
We made breakfast then sat and at at the counter.
"We really need to discuss your current work situation," he said to me.
"I like doing what I'm doing."
"I get that." He pushed his plate away. "But I think maybe we should alter it a bit."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, since Davis is no longer around, I thought you could help me with my paintings as a personal assistant like what you were suppose to be in the first place. Not a damn maid."
I could hear the contempt in his voice.
"There is nothing wrong with being a maid. It's an honest job."
"That's what I like about you. You don't look down on a job no matter what it is."
I shrugged, "it beats my last job when my boss was a complete ass."
"What do you mean?"
"It's nothing." I shook my head.
"Sera."
I knew he wouldn't let this go. I took a deep breath and sighed.
"He tried to do things. So, I slapped him. I also lost my job because of it."
"What?!" I could see his anger start to boil.
"Connor, it's okay."
"Sera it's not okay. He had no right to do that."
"Yeah but if that didn't happen, I wouldn't be here right now," I reasoned.
He looked at me intently and I gave him a soft look until he calm down.
"I guess you're right. I still don't like it though. No woman deserves that."
"I know. That's why I hit him," I grinned causing him to chuckled.
Ding dong.
"I'll get that," I said getting off my stool and walking to the front door. I opened it to find that woman from the party who I got into a scuffle with standing there.
Her face changed when she saw me.
"What are you doing here?" She sneered.
"I work here."
"Connor fired you."
"No, actually he didn't. His so-called friend did."
"Whatever. I'm here to see Connor."
