"C'mon!" Evangeline is hauled into the Cafeteria as she puts up a fight, not able to do much with her wrists and ankles chained against each other. It was a requirement put onto her by Kim Taehyung. The man overly paranoid that she could be plotting her way out of the Institution. Each time she meets with him, Kim makes her aware that she would not be able to leave him. He sounds berserk, a desperate twang followed by his words. It was weird how he said it, too. She wouldn't be able to leave him, rather than here...
The person who brought her in, Mars, orders her to take a seat while he brings a meal for her.
Evangeline twists her arm from out of his hold, eyebrows threaded together as she turns away and peers around the room for a skinny pale man with jet-black hair and colorful bruises. She meets Yoongi's gaze a moment later, the man sat alone at the same table like previously before. She trudges toward the table, gaze glancing over at his handler perched in the same position like last time. His eyes come ablaze once he sees her approaching Yoongi's table. Again, he doesn't make an immediate move toward her, instead pacing beside the wall like a serpent stalking his next prey.
Yoongi's sunken eyes examine the woman as she takes a seat in of front him, noticing right away the docile change in her once prominent demeanor. He snickers at his observation, "You look worse."
Evangeline tuts, "And you look better." He gives a quick smile before his lips fall back to its natural flat state. He nods toward her, questioning the abrasion on her cheek that wasn't there the last time they spoke. Her hand instinctively goes up to the mark, fingers touching the bruising on the right side of her face. Her eyes lower as she thinks back to Kim slapping her when she wouldn't say anything, then grabbing her by the neck and dragging her until she was dangling on her toes.
It had happened so fast. There was no hesitation in his actions. And the look that he gave her that day. She remembers how terrifying he was. His face so close to hers. Eyes appearing to have specs of burgundy red floating around the dark brown irises. Evangeline felt like she was staring back at something with no soul.
Evangeline explains the collision briefly, mentioning getting out of line with Kim to keep it short. The man points at the chains being a by-product of her misbehavior. She answers him with a defeated nod.
Her eyes rise to peer at Yoongi when she notices the man lean toward her. There's a cheeky grin that curves into his face, wrinkles near the ends of his lips deepen as the smile stretches. "I can tell you're cracking..." He whispers, a lighter tone at the end of his sentence. He was mocking her disheveled state. It was a sort of 'told-you-so' moment that he further rubs into the open-wound of her misery. "He's breaking your discipline in."
Yoongi feels a thrill inside his chest, a sort of feeling that he hasn't expressed since being locked in here. He knew that it was only a matter of time that Evangeline would be shown how she was just like the rest of these pitiful bastards; a hope to one day be free from the long winding claws that keep their sharp nails punctured into their leg like a ball and chain; a hope that these monsters facilitating the Institution would destroy through their worst fears.
"You were never as strong as you thought you were." He begins to laugh, mouth widening and eyes becoming smaller. It was a bitter cackle, meant to ridicule any effort she's tried to put in. His head rests against the palm of his hand, dark hair shielding over jeering eyes. By his demeaning words, Yoongi expects the woman to breakdown, to show him and everyone else in the Cafeteria just how much they've already pulverized her spirit and courage.
His gaze widens with satisfaction once he sees that single tear drop against the table. Her hands come up to her face, shielding her pained expression from the man in front of her. Her chin wobbles with sorrow. Her nose begins to burn. Her mind flashes images of each day and night that she would be escorted to the Act room where Kim Taehyung would have his way with her. She remembers not understanding why Lang would scream for them to not take him...now she understands all too well.
