She Can't Rest Now, There's Too Much at Stake [12°]

"Everything told to him I know about." There's muttering voices that come from beside the unconscious woman, they sound rushed and frantic. The voices are discussing the incident that took place an hour ago in the Slaughter. Her eyes feel heavy, but she still tries to lift them up. The mention of Yu Kwon triggers Evangeline to start moving her limbs, fingers tapping against the bedding to get feeling. She hears one of them notice her movement.

"I want him gone. He's done this too many times—we got lucky with her...this time."

She hears footsteps nearing where she lays.
She finally manages to open her eyes, hand coming up to clutch her forehead in irritation. The voice from before calls out to her, asking if she needs some water. Evangeline nods, being handed a small plastic throwaway cup a second later.

She examines the two male figures in front of her. One of them she recognizes. It was Baekhyun, the person she wanted to speak to within the past two weeks and another man dressed in a lab coat who peers back at her. He has a name tag on the left side of his breast pocket: Dr. Kim Seokjin. Her eyes peer over her surroundings, realizing she wasn't in that pinked-out vomit fest.

There's a bandage over her hand, fingers coming up to touch her face to feel the once open wounds sealed with antibiotics. Her left eye is still swollen. Her chest and legs ache. Though she may feel terrible now, she's relieved Kim Seokjin came in when he did. Her head turns into the doctor's direction, grabbing his attention. "You saved me."

Seokjin's fingers fiddle around the buttons of his lab coat, pressing down the fabric toward his maroon dress shirt. "By a margin," He says, looking over at Baekhyun who stands off near the entrance of the medical room with his arms folded against his chest. Both men have uncertain looks on their faces as they share glances toward one another. "I never go into that unit of the Institution. I was informed by one of the handlers that you needed first aid for a minor injury. He wouldn't just let me give him the box, but insisted I go there instead—"

A handler told the doctor about Evangeline...which means Mars didn't just up and leave the woman to fend for herself. He wanted to help her and this was the only way he knew how without being confronted with consequences of his actions.

Seokjin explains his remorsefulness for almost refusing to leave, dismissing Mars by saying he was busy with other things because he didn't feel like traveling all the way to the East wing of the building. His mind settles on the possibility of what could have happened if he stayed in the ICU, regret weighing his shoulders.

Baekhyun tries to cheer up the doctor, trying to get him off the topic of 'what if's' and instead be glad that he did choose to go. Seokjin meets
Evangeline's gaze. He asks her if he made it on time, if Yu Kwon didn't do anything worse than physically assault her. The way Seokjin's questions come out and his eyes appearing penitent, his demeanor would alter depending on her answer to his questions.

She nonverbally shakes her head letting him know that he made it just in time as she sits up more in the bed. Both men let out a sigh of relief, again looking toward one another. "Either way, we still have to report this incident to Mr. Kim." Baekhyun nods immediately after Seokjin speaks, agreeing with him. This act against Evangeline cannot go unpunished. Yu Kwon has exhausted his time in the Institution and it is time for him to depart. Once word gets out of what occurred in the Slaughter, Baekhyun and Seokjin know Yu Kwon won't be able to get out of this one, especially since it involves the one person Kim Taehyung told everyone not to handle forcefully.

Evangeline doesn't remember what happened after Seokjin had unwrapped her arms. Her vision had gone black and it felt like something else had taken over her consciousness. The last thing she recalls is him crouched above her and
a few other people running inside to assist them.
