"I can't believe its been over a month since we started university." Kayla said through the phone.

"Yeah, it feels longer than that, probably because we've got so much going on." I replied.

"You mean YOU got a lot going on," she smacked, "I see you and Kyrie been hanging out lot." she laughed.

"Nahhh, it ain't like that. We're just friends. Well, I mean, I told him we should start off as friends....get to know each other." I explained as I shrugged.

"Mmmhm. I don't know what type of friends y'all are...but I don't know of any friends that look at each other like they're in looooveeeee." she sang. I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever, I gotta go girl. I'll text you later." I said.

"Mmhm, you going to see him now huh?", she asked laughing.

"No! I got other things to do. Bye I love you." I rushed.

"Mhm. Love you too, bye" she said and with that I hung up.

"You only been here 2 minutes and you already on your phone girl?", Mom said sassily.

"Momm, it was just Kayla." I chuckled. "What you cooking? I'm hungry." I said following her into the kitchen.

"Your dad's bringing home some take out." she said setting the dining table. "I'm hoping that he brings something good, I'm tryna get thiiccckk." she said sticking out her tongue.

I scrunched up my face. "First of all, never do that again.. and there he is now," I hopped towards the door and swung it open.

"Hey baby girl." he said smiling.

"Hey dad" I said smiling back. I took a bag from his hand.

"Can y'all stop cutting up and bring my damn food?!" mom screamed from the dining room causing us both to laugh.

"So Lay, anything interesting happened or is coming up?" asked Mom.

"Wellll," I started.

"Nuh uh, if this about one of them nappy headed boys, I don't wanna hear it." Dad said taking a sip of his drink.

"Weeellll." I continued. I looked at Dad and saw him roll his eyes. "I have this friend named Kyrie...and he's pretty cool. He's a junior."

"What?! A junior? Nah, this ain't gonna work." Dad said more seriously this time. Mom stared at him causing him to cower.

"Speaking of friends, how is Layah's friend doing at the studio, Hun?" asked Mom.

"Oh yeah, how is he?" I asked nervously hoping noticed my tone.

"He's actually pretty good Lay. Where did you find him? His sample beats are incredible. I could sell those things." he said proudly causing me to smile.

"But don't tell him that. Then he'll put me out of business." he winked, causing me and Mom to laugh.

"Well, you need to keep him under your wing cause music is the only thing you're good at." mom teased, sticking out her tongue and laughing.

"Ohh, by the way, my big game is on Thursday, you guys have to be there." I pleaded. "My coach has been on me allll week, sooo I'm pretty sure we could win this game." I said confidently as I got up to clear the table. As I made my way to the kitchen, I heard the doorbell ring. I quickly put the dishes on the kitchen counter and hurried down the hall. "COMIING." I yelled. I unlocked and opened the door.

"Heeeeeyyyy ladybug." a voice said before coming and giving me a squishing hug.

"Uncle Roman? What are you doing here??" I squeaked, "I haven't seen you in forever!" I said happily as I hugged him back.

"Yeah Roman, what are you doing here?" asked Mom with a sour expression. I turned from Uncle Roman and noticed that Dad stood behind her looking both stunned and angry at the same time.

'What's going on?' I thought to myself.

"Man, outchea is COLD. My balls are freezing, wanna see?" he said lifting up his shirt and laughing.

"Nah man, cut that gay shit right there, aight?" I said seriously...then started laughing.

"Mann, I'm tryna get you to relax, you look like you're scared to be outchea. Don't worry I got some heat so we good." he said lifting his shirt showing me his gun.

"You a fool man, I'm not scared just cautious." I said.

"Mmmhmmm. Soo, what's going on with you and Lil Kai...Bella, is it?" Marco said smirking causing me to clench my jaw.

"Nothing, she's just a friend." I said nonchalantly.

"Ohh, so she's just a friend? Ooohh, good, because I been wanting to get really deep inside that." he said smirking.

I clenched my jaw tighter. My mind was racing and I was trying my hardest not to flip. "You done?...and look, you have a customer." I said nodding my head towards a black, tinted, Honda that pulled up not too far from us.
