Kyrie's P.O.V.

It's been 20 minutes that I have been sitting in here and my father still hasn't reached inside the study. I'm too busy and annoyed to be sitting around here waiting. 'I'm wasting my time.' I thought to myself.

I let out a heavy sigh. "Boy, why are you breathing like that, you ain't married." I heard my dad's unsettling voice.

"I'm just tired, that's all." I said, rubbing my face and running my hand through my hair. "Geez dad, you look real bad." I smirked.

He chuckled, "You're heading here anyways so I don't mind." he shrugged, pouring himself a drink. Obviously irritated, I shifted in my seat for what feels like the twentieth time.

"What's the matter Kai? You look uneasy." he said, taking a sip his drink.

"It's nothing really,...uhh what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" I inquired, arching a brow.

"Well, as you can see, your mom and I have been drifting apart lately. And I think it's about time that I fixed that." he said, sitting on the edge of his desk, facing me. I gave him a confused look as to say 'what does this have to with me?'. "I've decided that I'm gonna step down from the CEO position at the company and give it to you to run." he said nonchalant smile, causing my heart to drop.

"Huh?" I asked, dumbfounded. "What do you mean you decided? You didn't even think about how I would feel about this!" I said, getting angry.

His face went cold. "As my only son, it's your responsibility to take over from me." he said bitterly, making known the fact as he stretched the word "only."

I sucked my teeth. "This is some bullshit." I mumbled, getting up from my seat.

"Kyrie Isaac Simmons, you sit down right now!" he said with an angry, icy tone. His eyes were filled with a mixture of rage and shock. I stood there and stared at him. He gulped down the rest of his drink. He then twirled the glass around in his hand, examining it. "Don't ever use that language around me again boy." he said, slamming the glass down, startling me.

I've been afraid of this man all my life. I tried to hate him, I tried to be the son he wished he never had. I tried everything. But he always seems to bring me back into his crap.

"Am I supposed to be scared dad?" I asked in an equally cold tone, and 'stretching the word 'dad'. He gave me a cold, hard glare.

"Don't test me boy. You are going to take my place. Even if I have to teach you everything myself!" he screamed. It went quiet. I clenched my jaw and my fist and stared at the man who was supposed to be my father.

"So you brought me here to scream at me?" I huffed, "what a shame." I said shaking my head, looking into his piercing gaze. I then saw where I got my temper, my personality and all my flaws from.

"Get out of my sight." he spat as he poured himself a next drink.

"No. It's my turn to talk." I said, causing him to snort in shock and disbelief. Before he could take a sip, I asked the burning question that I had. "How do you know Leonard King? and why is Grandpa's stuff mixed up with stuff for the Kings?" I asked boldly.

All of the color drained from my father's face. For the first time he actually looked nervous. I smirked, enjoying the rare sight.

"I-I-I don't know what you mean. What stuff? Who are you talking about?" he asked, obviously trying to lie.

"You know exactly what I mean." I pressed, not breaking my eye contact with him. He sighed and rest his glass on the desk.

"We were best friends." he said coldly. "All of us, Leo, Rom, even Dani." he said with his hand on his heart sadly.
