Romeo, Victoria, and I get in the car. Romeo is silent.
"We have to go to Burberry to have a meeting with Ruthie to discuss the campaign," Victoria says.
"Cool, I'm excited!" I say.
Romeo is silent.
Me: Hey Brooklyn I need your help
Brooklyn: Yeah what's up?
Me: Romeos not talking to me
Brooklyn: Yeah, didn't I tell you about this yesterday
Me: Yeah but I've thought about it
Brooklyn: And...
Me: I like Romeo a lot but idk if I want to date and stuff like that
Brooklyn: Why?
Me: I don't know...
Brooklyn: Gtg Cruz is calling me
Me: Okay
I check Snapchat and Instagram for the rest of the car ride. On Instagram I start looking at fan accounts of Romeo and I. Why does love have to be so complicated?
When we arrive at Burberry there is paparazzi covering the entrance. Romeo gets out of the car and blasts past them with his head down. I get out and try my best to ignore the paparazzi.
"Welcome Romeo and Emily!" Ruthless says excitedly. "I'm so glad you both decided to do this!"
Ruthie gives us a run down about the whole process of the campaign. The work hours, wardrobe, craft services, the pay, and every other detail.
"Um Ruthie can I talk to you?" Romeo asks quietly.
Romeo talked!
"Sure, in private?" She asks
He nods.
Victoria and I get up from our seats and walk outside.
"Do you know what's going on with Romeo? He doesn't seem to be himself." Victoria says to me.
"No I don't," I lie.
After a few more moments of silence Romeo and Ruthie walk out and he signas for Victoria to come in. Romeo looks really sad.
I decide to text Romeo explaining how I feel
Me: Romeo, it's been driving me crazy that you're not taking to me. You were the reason I stayed here. Your letter completely changed how my decision meant. The letter you gave me was the sweetest thing I've ever received and I'm going to treasure it forever. I know you're upset because I didn't want to date but I just want you to know that I really care about you and I really like you. I've never met anyone who's made me smile and laugh so much. I've changed my mind about dating you. Even though I'm only here for 3 months I want to make these 3 months the best ever. If you still feel the same way (and I hope you do):). I would love to be your girlfriend. I love you.
My finger was less than I millimeter away from pressing send but then I quickly delete the whole text.
What could be going on in Ruthies office?
A few minutes later all three of them walk out.
"Romeo do you want to tell Emily what you decided?" Victoria says.
Romeo looks at the floor and says, " I decided not to do the campaign."
WHATTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!
"Wait, what?!" I say surprised.
Romeo says nothing.
I get a buzz from my phone
Victoria: I'm so sorry about Romeo. I don't know what he's thinking, I'll try get him to not quit.
Me: Thanks😕
Victoria: ❤️❤️❤️
We ride home in silence.
When we get back to the house I go immediately to my room. I couldn't hold my anger any longer.
"How could you?!!! I stayed here to do this campaign with YOU and you decide to quit!" I yell.
Romeo is silent.
"Romeo you have no excuse to ignore me," I add.
Romeo finally says, "I'm sorry."
"Why did you do it?" I ask angrily
"Do what?" Romeo says.
"Quit," I quickly say.
"I just couldn't do it," He says softly.
"You were so excited to do it at first and begged me to do it." I say almost as softly.
"You made the decision to," He says sternly"
"You wrote me the letter," I say even more sternly.
"I just wanted to tell you that I liked you and wanted to me more then friends but obviously you don't want that," He says sounding sad.
I pause.
"I didn't want that," I say quietly.
A few moments later...
"Now I do," I say even quieter.
