It was a new day in the life of Kim Namjoon. He started his new job. Getting out of bed, he quickly padded to his bathroom, taking a quick shower. Getting dressed hurriedly, he moved onto his kitchen grabbing a bit of breakfast. he put his dirtied dishes into the sink and went back to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Flicking the light on, he smiled at his dimpled self in the mirror. His pink hair was sticking up a bit haphazardly. He did his best to comb it back down. He had forgotten to blow dry it, leaving it a bit puffier than usual.
He left his apartment with plenty of time to spare, locking the door securely behind him. he had a good feeling about this morning. he couldn't wait to start is new job. It sounded particularly easy - it was mostly data entry and some data analysis. He had been told that the combination of his IQ and resume he had been the first pick for the job despite his dyed hair. It had made him proud and he remembered smiling like a dummy before going out with his friends to celebrate.
He boarded the bus, being careful not mess up his clothes. He wanted to make a good first impression on his new boss and coworkers and he thought that wearing a crisp, white button down with black slacks and a tie would suit perfectly. He didn't mind wearing professional clothes, though he did prefer dressing casually. Namjoon hope that after awhile he would be allowed to wear more normal, everyday clothing - that is if his dress code allowed such.
He showed up at the office building precisely on time. Straightening his shirt a bit, he entered the high-rise before making his way to the elevator. It wasn't packed but there were a few people more than normal all trying to slip into the metal doors before they closed. The elevator stopped multiple times before Namjoon made it to his floor. Floor nine. Walking briskly away from the people still trying to scurry on and off the elevator, he made his way to his new boss's office. He knocked softly on the large door before he heard a bright, "Come in."
There was a lady sitting behind a rather large desk, typing away diligently on her computer. She stopped when Namjoon walked in. She grinned, shaking his hand and offering to show him where he would work and to get him started. She had been the one to interview Namjoon and also the one to tell him of his employment. She liked seeing a happy new face in the building - it helped even more that he was so handsome.
Namjoon was shown to his new cubicle. He made himself at home. Messing with his chair to get it in the right position. he wanted his work days to be as comfortable as they could be and a chair not suited to his height or build wouldn't work he finally got it the way he wanted, slumping down into the cheap cushions and pulling himself towards his desk. Before Namjoon could get started on the already growing pile of paperwork beside him, there was a brief knock on the side of his cubicle.
He spun around in his chair, eyes coming up to look at an unexpected sight. There was a man leaning casually on the side of his cubicle opening, a smirk playing on his thin lips. He was shorter than Namjoon with a thin build. His purple, ash colored hair was fluffy and poking upwards a bit - Namjoon assumed due to the static electricity that came with the older weather they were having. His clothes were darker - pinstriped suit slacks, a white button up shirt and a solid colored blazer. He was sucking on some kind of small lollipop, staining his lips a darker red color than was natural. Namjoon gulped a bit. he hadn't seen someone so handsome in a long while and this man was string his down with half hooded eyes and he swirled a sucker around in his mouth.
Taking one last suck, the other man pulled the lollie out of his mouth, licking his lips, "Do you have a name or can I call you mine?" His deep silky voice pour out from his lips and made Namjoon almost shiver. he had never heard a voice quite like that.
"Uhh..." Namjoon was at a loss for words - not only was it only nine in the morning and thi man was sucking on candy but how could it even be work appropriate? "Hi, I'm Kim Namjoon, I'm new here. This is my first day." Namjoon stuck his hand out. The other man immediately took it in his own, giving Namjoon a firm shake. Namjoon found it a bit odd, the other seemed to hang on a second or two too long before slowly slipping his warm hand away.
"Oh, you're name is Kim, too? Good. That'll make it easier." the man placed his lollie back in his mouth, smiling round the white stick still poking out.
Namjoon tilted his head, "Easier?" he tried not to stare at the cheek where the man's candy was poking the skin outwards a little.
"When I finally make you mine, you won't have to change your last name."
Namjoon felt his cheeks heat as this handsome young man was practically grinning at him from the front of his cubicle. It was an incredibly uncomfortable position to be in and Namjoon had no idea what he should say in reply.
"By the way," the man buried his hands into his pockets, his grin taking a slyer air about it as he moved his sucker to the side of his mouth in order to speak clearer, "My name's Taehyung. Just so you know what to scream." he winked.
Taehyung's name was called a few seconds later. He sent Namjoon one more wining smile before taking off and shouting something about printer ink. Namjoon sat still, dumbfounded as he watched the mop of purple hair disappear around the corner, that deep baritone voice still rolling into his ears. This new job had already taken an unexpected turn.
And Namjoon hated the unexpected.
