Pick Up Lines (Taejoon)

"How are you today?"

The moment Namjoon had been dreading was upon him. Taehyung had shown up at his cubicle after their lunch break. The younger was standing behind Namjoon, a hand behind his back and one bracing himself against the shabby plastic of the cubicle wall.

"Fine," Namjoon muttered, leaving his work for a moment to turn and face Taehyung.

Taehyung smirked, "I asked how you are, not how you look."

Namjoon's cheeks heated, the tips of his ears turning a dark shade of pink. His lowered his head a bit, eyes avoid those of Taehyung. It was a stupid line – on that should have made him more annoyed than flustered and for a moment he found himself blushing like a school girl.

He couldn't actually be attracted to Taehyung... could he?

No, that was ridiculous.

"What do you want?" he scratched the back of his neck a bit awkwardly, still trying to avoid Taehyung's strong gaze.

"An answer about tonight?" Taehyung prompted.

Namjoon remembered Hoseok's advice in his sloppy text – also shuddering when he remembered how he had obtained said advice.

"Dinner sounds good...." Namjoon coughed, clearing his throat and finally looking to Taehyung's face. The younger was practically beaming – his boxy smile something Namjoon didn't normally see as it was constantly hidden by a smart smirk. Namjoon liked that smile. The younger was honestly adorable. He was almost happy he had said yes, even if to just receive this reaction.

Taehyung's eyes widened and so did his smile. He brought his other arm out from behind his back and handed Namjoon a flower. Namjoon took it with a surprised gasp, taking in the detail and softness of the yellow petals.

"A daffodil?" Namjoon found himself smiling, putting the flower close to his nose and inhaling softly, letting the sweetness of the flower's scent wash over him like a calming wave. He closed his eyes, letting the scent fill his senses and he couldn't stop the grin forming on his face.

"Yeah," Taehyung answered softly, "It symbolizes new beginnings."

Our new beginning.

Namjoon's eyes snapped open, fluttering upwards to meet Taehyung's dark ones. There was a soft look on his face, his grin diminished to a small smile stretching one side of his lips upwards. It was such a small piece of information, one that Taehyung must have gone looking for to give Namjoon the perfect flower and that made the older smile even more. Taehyung was really trying and even though there was still that underlying feeling of flirtatiousness, he was attempting to mend his wrongs.

"I'll see you tonight, then?" Namjoon asked softly, letting his eyes flutter shut once more as he took in the scent of the flower in hands. He needed to get a glass of water so it would last longer and Namjoon had every intention of setting it on his desk.

"Yes!" Taehyung answered immediately, his happy grin back, "Do you want me to pick you up?"

"No," Namjoon shook his head and gave a breathy laugh. In case anything went wrong, he'd still take his own vehicle or a taxi, "Where do you want to meet?"

Taehyung stood for a moment, his eyes slowly lifting to the ceiling and a concentrated look taking over his features. His let his tongue poke out the side of his cheek and Namjoon had the strongest urge to reach out and poke it through the younger's cheek.

"What's your favorite place to eat?" Taehyung asked finally.

Now it was Namjoon's turn to pause but it was a short pause as he knew the answer almost immediately.

"Panda Express!"

Taehyung laughed but nodded, "Then I'll meet you at Panda Express at around six-thirty?"

Namjoon smiled and nodded. He watched Taehyung disappear around his cubicle corner with his own smile decorating his face. All he could see was a messy head of hair bobbing up and down as he walked away.
