"Your friend is kind of an asshole, but I can appreciate that."
"Leave me alone, Taehyung." Namjoon sighed, closing his eyes and trying to block out the sound of soft breathing behind him.
His week of rest had ended. Namjoon was saddened that he had to get back to work.
Back to Taehyung.
Back to the damn flirting and incessant pleas for his attention.
Yoongi and Hoseok had been amazing the entire week, helping him cook meals and hanging out. Yoongi still chuckled to himself about the vehement look Taehyung had shot him when punched in the face – much to his boyfriend's dislike. Hoseok wasn't a fan of violence but even he couldn't help but crack a smile when Yoongi went on and on about how nice it felt to knock Taehyung off his feet.
"Hyung-" Taehyung's voice came out soft but it was interrupted by Namjoon's rough one.
"I don't have time for you today, so go away. And don't call me hyung." Namjoon snapped, the pads of his fingers practically slamming down on his keyboard.
"I wanted to apologize...." Taehyung muttered.
"You should have thought about that before you made that comment about my moaning to my friend." Namjoon turned around briefly to give Taehyung the meanest look he could. He felt a flicker of satisfaction when he saw Taehyung's lip was covered in a small bandage, still healing from Yoongi's punch. He made a mental note to tell the other man when he got off work. Yoongi would be very happy.
"Namjoon, I'm sorry! I don' know what came over me!" Taehyung honestly did feel terrible. Not only had he ruined his chances of getting with Namjoon, he also hurt the older and it made him want to curl up and cry. But Taehyung was a proud sort and he'd never admit that to anyone.
Namjoon didn't know if he was angry per se. Not anymore at least. His week of rest had let himself take a step back and control his emotions. He was still hesitant to surround himself with Jin and Taehyung but he did want to give them both a hard time and teach them a lesson. Making them suffer a bit wouldn't hurt. Besides, their actions would speak and tell him if they were truly sorry. If they were sorry, he would potentially hang around them more often.
"I have work to do, Taehyung, so go away." Namjoon snapped, his eyes flicking over the lines of numbers and text illuminated on his screen.
Before Namjoon knew what happened, he was being physically spun around in his chair. His hands were ripped away from his keyboard as he spun, coming to a stop with Taehyung's face inches from his own. The younger looked determined, even if his eyes were a bit glassy and watery and at that moment Namjoon wondered if he had gone a bit too far. He wanted to teach Taehyung a lesson but he didn't want to make him cry.
Even if he did deserve to.
"I..." his voice cracked. Taehyung swallowed thickly, "I will do anything to make it up to you, I swear. You gave Jin a chance. Please give me one, too." His brown eyes were bright and fiery, nothing but sincerity shining through.
Namjoon was still shocked but managed to choke out, "God, fine...."
Taehyung stepped back, a smile now decorating his features even if his eyes were still glossy from unfallen tears.
"Can I take you out?" he asked, voice full of hope.
Namjoon frowned, "No."
Taehyung's face dropped, "But you said-"
"I'm not going on a date with you, Taehyung." Namjoon shook his head. That seemed to be going a bit far.
Taehyung pouted. The older had to admit, it was the cutest thing he had ever seen in his life.
"Why are you still trying, Taehyung? You know I'm not interested. Friday night should have told you that." Namjoon groaned.
"Don't you want to know why I lied to Jin about your sexuality?"
Namjoon grunted indifferently. Of course he wanted to know why but he couldn't let Taehyung know that. He had to act like he had won their little game - like he had finally gotten it over on Taehyung. The younger shouldn't even be trying anymore. Namjoon literally shut him down. Why couldn't he just give up? And it was becoming more and more evident that the two men shared information concerning Namjoon with each other. It was a slight turn off.
"You do, don't you?" That damn smirk was back, playing on Taehyung's lips as if he knew so much more than Namjoon did.
"Maybe...." He muttered under his breath, crossing his arms across his chest.
"Jin gave me your number. I'll call you and set a time up later, then." He grinned, "Thank you, Namjoon hyung!" He trotted off, Namjoon calling after him "Don't call me hyung!"
