Namjoon had been ducking and ignoring Jin's calls and texts. The older had been trying to get in touch with him since midday but he had silenced his phone, intent on spending time with Yoongi and Hoseok. They had both take off work to simply be with him for at least one day to make him feel better and Hoseok had prosed the next day that he'd come over for a few nights out of the week to hang out.
Namjoon damned himself to hell for being so needy but he couldn't tell Hoseok no. He wanted the company – he needed the company.
The next day, Hoseok and Yoongi both left to go to work, not being able to avoid it any longer. They both hugged Namjoon goodbye, saying they'd be back soon. Namjoon smiled softly and waved to them as they left. He felt his phone vibrating in his back pocket. He pulled it out, seeing Jin's name lighted up on the screen. He huffed, deciding to get it over with and talk to the older. He held the phone up to his ear. Jin's voice immediately tumbled out of the speaker, "Please don't hang up!"
"Why not?" Namjoon grumbled quietly.
"Namjoon, please let me talk to you." Jin asked.
"I don't want to talk to right now." Namjoon sighed.
"I understand but please, I need to apologize. What I did that night was unacceptable and when you said stop, Taehyung and I both should have stopped." Jin's voice held a certain desperation in it. Namjoon sighed once again. He knew he was a sucker for that.
"It's fine, hyung. You were drunk." Namjoon lied.
"It's not fine. Please, let me make it up to you. I'll do anything."
"Ok..." Namjoon whispered into the phone. Jin still heard and immediately thanked him. They decided to meet at a coffee shop. Namjoon didn't want Jin in his house and the older understood. They met a little after noon. They were both seated at a booth, one on either side. Jin could tell Namjoon was uncomfortable.
Namjoon tapped his fingers on the wood of the table, looking out of the window next to their booth, "I need some answers, Jin-ssi."
Jin didn't miss the fact Namjoon had stopped calling him hyung, instead opting to go with the formal name ending. He swallowed thickly. This was already going downhill.
"Anything, Namjoon-ah."
They were interrupted by a server. Namjoon quietly ordered and then waited as Namjoon did the same. Once the waiter left, Namjoon's eyes flicked back up to Jin's.
"Why did you do it?" he asked quietly.
Jin's heart sank but he thought it was obvious, "I was drunk...."
"No." Namjoon snapped. He quickly got ahold of himself once more, "Why were there only the three of us there? And why did you take interest in me in the first place? And why did it matter if I was gay or not after Taehyung lied to you? And why did Taehyung lie to you?"
Jin tried to keep up with all the questions. He wasn't expecting such an outburst.
"I... I saw you at work." He paused, eyes not meeting Namjoon's, "Of course you caught my eye – you're gorgeous, Namjoon." He looked into Namjoon's eyes at that and saw the hint of pink on his cheeks. He was blushing over being called gorgeous? It was so endearing.
"You're prettier than I am," Namjoon's voice was quiet, "So what did that matter?"
"Do you want me to be honest?"
Namjoon nodded.
"I wanted to do so many bad things to you, Namjoon." He watched the younger squirm in his seat at that confession, "When I first saw you, I saw an easy night. I thought you'd be nice for a one night stand and we'd be the scandal of the office for a few weeks – the new guy and the flirt of the west side of the building? I've done it before so when I saw you, I saw another sleeping buddy." He chuckled, "You didn't turn out that way. Because that damned Kim Taehyung set his eyes on you first and he's a selfish, greedy bastard and he wanted you to himself. As more than a simple bed buddy, I believe."
"Taehyung was joking...." Namjoon muttered. A part of him knew that that was a lie. Taehyung had done nothing but flaunt his attraction to Namjoon from day one.
"No he wasn't." he laughed ruefully before shrugging, "I believe he lied so he could keep you to himself as well."
"Why were there only three of us that night?" Namjoon asked. He smiled faintly when the waiter came back with their orders, smiling brightly and asking if they wanted or needed anything else. He went away with a smile as well when both men said no.
"I told you the get together was small." Jin shrugged. He didn't want to say "because Taehyung and I decided to share you." Namjoon shouldn't be objectified and Jin knew that but the two of them had done it anyway.
Namjoon gulped a bit of his drink. He decided not to press it any further.
"So," he paused. How was he going to ask this? Why was he going to ask this? "Have you and Taehyung ever..." he tilted his head to the side, trying to be suggestive.
Jin's brows furrowed and he leaned forward as if about to listen to a secret, "Ever what?"
"You know...." Namjoon squirmed a bit more. He rolled his hand in a circular motion but Jin didn't seem to understand, "Have you ever done... it?"
Jin actually laughed. It was a bark of pure amusement and he couldn't stop himself.
"I've never slept with Tae, no." he took a sip of his own coffee, "Believe me, I tried. We've made out a few times before – mostly drunk... but otherwise we're just two gay dudes who work together with the same taste in men."
Namjoon nodded. His gaze went back to rest on his own drink. It was sweet and fruity – something he liked but at the moment it wasn't too enticing.
"Can I please make it up to you, Namjoon? I feel so damn bad – you deserve so much more – but please?"
Namjoon knew he had to be out of his mind, but one look at the pout Jin's pouty lips had and he was already nodding.
