Namjoon called in, lying and saying his dear aunt had died and he had to go to the funeral. His boss had been relatively understanding, letting him take a week away as long as he did a certain amount of work. Namjoon had been so happy. He was told he could come in any time that day and collect the papers he'd need while he was away. Namjoon knew he'd have to go to his cubicle and pick up his work laptop as well and he wasn't excited about it.
Hoseok was kind enough to offer to go with him. Yoongi immediately jumped in, demanding to be the one to take Namjoon. He had heard Namjoon tell Hoseok the people who made him cry might be there and so Yoongi was beyond eager to at least get a look at them.
The ride to Namjoon's office was filled with mostly low mutterings from Yoongi. Against Namjoon's better judgement and after enough pressuring from his friend, Namjoon broke down and allowed Yoongi to take him. When they parked, Yoongi was the first out of the car, taking long strides into the building. Namjoon found himself trotting after his friend despite having longer legs. He barely made it to the elevator before the doors closed on him. He shot Yoongi a frail glare. He was thankful for his friend but Yoongi was taking it a bit far.
"Which floor?" Yoongi growled out, finger covering over the circular floor buttons. Namjoon answered him and watched the pale finger select his floor before dropping back to his side.
"Hyung, don't you think you're a bit mad?" Namjoon tried. He didn't want Yoongi to snap at him.
"We're going in there and you're going to point those men out to me." Yoongi answered, eyes glued to the door and murder on his face.
"Hyung-"
Yoongi cut him off, "Do as I say, Namjoon."
Namjoon's eyes flicked down at the tone, "Yes, hyung...."
Namjoon hoped beyond all hope Taehyung and Jin weren't there or that they didn't see them. Thankfully enough, it was still early and the building had just been opened a few minutes before their arrival. As Namjoon stepped out onto his work floor, he noticed most of the cubicles were still empty. The short walk to his own cubicle went well as there was no one to stop and bother them. He found his laptop easily. It was still in its bag, ready to go. Picking up the bag along with the papers left in his inbox, Namjoon proceeded to pull on Yoongi's arm so they could just leave.
Namjoon was relieved. He was going to be able to just leave with no confrontation. At least, that's what he thought.
"Namjoon!" his name was called excitedly from an all too familiar voice. His eyes squeezed tightly shut and he could feel Yoongi beside him getting ready to bust some teeth.
Namjoon turned to see Taehyung running to him. He stopped in front of him and Yoongi but paid Yoongi no mind, keeping his gaze locked on Namjoon.
"I wanted to say I was sorry earlier but you hung up-" Taehyung frowned when Yoongi cut him off by addressing Namjoon.
"Is he the one who-"
"Yes..." Namjoon's voice was barely above a whisper. His head was down and he tried not to look at Yoongi or Taehyung. He just wanted to leave. The mood had changed immediately, Yoongi's steel gaze settling onto Taehyung. There was a tight, angered air around Yoongi, amplified when taehyung seemed to realize what was going on.
"You touched Namjoon?" Yoongi asked, voice low and eyes murderous.
"Hyung...." Namjoon tried to cut in and control his friend but Yoongi was ignoring him. His eyes were locked on those of Taehyung's.
"I asked you a question." Yoongi spat.
Taehyung smirked. It wasn't his normal smirk. There was anger behind this one, his eyes alight with a sort of challenging fire.
"Yeah – you should have heard him moan when I did, too."
Namjoon's mouth dropped open at those words, tears pricking his eyes. How could Taehyung say something so callous and mean and in front of Namjoon's friend. Namjoon missed Yoongi's arm reeling back but he didn't miss it shooting forward, connecting solidly with Taehyung's jaw. The younger's head snapped back and he crashed to the floor with a groan of pain.
"Yoongi!" Namjoon shouted. He knew it was a bad idea to draw attention to themselves at this point but he couldn't help the exclamation that left his lips.
Taehyung picked himself up into a slumped sitting position. Yoongi's punch had busted his lip open, the scarlet liquid beading around the wound or dripping down his chin. His eyes were filled with hatred as he looked on at Yoongi's satisfied self. His hair had fallen into his eyes, hiding the pure anger but in a second he was back up, ready to throw a punch of his own.
"Hyung, we need to leave!" Namjoon slung his laptop bag over his shoulder and proceeded to pull on Yoongi's arm. The older let himself be pulled away, but not without smirking before flipping Taehyung off and growling out a short, "Never touch my friend again, bitch."
