It was Friday and Namjoon was beyond happy. He had ben looking forward to Friday all week. He and Jin would be going out tonight to the American styled bar. He could barely remember what American food tasted like but he remembered it was slightly greasier than Korean food but it was also borderline addictive. He had grinned all day long and didn't even complain when Taehyung came by and surprised him by giving his shoulders a quick massage. he had even gone as far as to hum a thank you to the younger before dashing off to deliver some files.
Namjoon couldn't remember a time when he had just felt so giddy and he decided that he quite liked the feeling.
It was almost time to clock out and get ready for his date when an assistant stopped by his desk to tell him to go to hi boss's office. Namjoon furrowed his brows, calling a thank you to the mystery man as he dashed off in order to get more work done. Namjoon stood and made his way to the office, wondering what on earth his boss could possibly want at such a time.
A woman with a very smart and chic haircut was sitting behind a mahogany desk, typing at her own keyboard and humming to herself about a budget. she looked normal enough, in her mid forties, short, black hair and white blouse and dress slacks. Her eyes flicked up when Namjoon entered the room and sat down at on of the wooden chairs in front of her desk. Namjoon briefly noticed the picture frames of small children and a gold plaque with her name, Oh SongMin written in black.
"Ah Namjoon," she smiled welcomingly, "Good to see you. I hear you've been doing fine work."
Namjoon smiled back but there was an uneasiness about it. He had never been called to the boss's office before and he could only wonder if he'd done something wrong, "I'm glad... I was told you needed to speak to me?"
She smiled and nodded, "There's some extra work that needs to be taken care of and you seem to have the best ability to do it."
Namjoon sighed in relief, "Of course, ma'am. I'll get it done first thing Monday morning."
"I'm sorry, Namjoon," She didn't look sorry as the words came out of her mouth, "But I need you to stay here and do it tonight. You'll be paid overtime of course but this work needs to be done. You do understand, right?"
Namjoon's eyes widened and he tried to think of an excuse, "But Ma'am, I have a date -"
She scowled, "What's more important, Namjoon? A date or your job?"
Namjoon closed his mouth. He knew this job was more important. He'd have to call Jin and tell him he couldn't make it.
"What work do you need done?" he asked.
His boss smiled, "There's a stack of papers on your desk already. You won't be working alone. I've had Mr. Kim stay to work with you as well."
Namjoon almost lit up, "Mr. Kim? Kim Seokjin?"
They could work through whatever paperwork needed to be done and then they could talk and just be together. It sounded lovely - a nice work building completely silent save the two of them.
"I'm afraid not, Namjoon. No, Mr. Kim Taehyung will be assisting you tonight."
Namjoon's face fell.
Why did it have to be Taehyung?
Why did it always have to be Taehyung?
