Namjoon was surprised the next morning. He had dozed off around eleven that night but instead of being woken up by his alarm, he was pulled out of sleep by the sound of his phone going off. Groggily he reached out to the bedside table, his hands fumbling to find the device. He sniffed slightly, not bothering to open his eyes but a crack as he slid the Accept Call button without even looking at the number.
"Hello?" his voice was deep and rough from sleep. He ran a hand gingerly over his face as he waited to hear the voice on the other side of the line.
"Damn, you sound sexy." Namjoon's brow furrowed as he heard those words. The voice sounded so hauntingly familiar but he couldn't place a face or name to it.
"Who is this?" he asked, finally opening his eyes. He glanced at the clock beside his bed. He still had thirty minutes before his alarm would go off.
"Taehyung. I told you I would call you." Suddenly the voice did have a face to it and Namjoon groaned in frustration, curling up in his warm sheets and willing the younger to leave him alone if but just for thirty more minutes.
"It's too early...." Namjoon bit out, pulling his covers tighter around himself. He knew he'd never fall asleep in time to get his lost thirty minutes back.
"Oh..." Taehyung seemed to pause for a moment, "Where are you?"
"In bed." Namjoon indignantly muttered.
Taehyung giggled, "Good, I hope you're naked."
"No, I'm trying to sleep actually." Namjoon spat back. He pulled himself away from his covers at this point, sitting up and not bothering to try and sleep. What was the use? "What do you want?"
"I'm sorry for waking you up, hyung..." the emotion in Taehyung's voice was genuine. He sounded a bit upset and a bit pouty.
"It's fine." Namjoon muttered, "And stop calling me hyung." Namjoon pulled himself out of bed, walking to his closet and looking through his clothes, trying to decide what to wear to work. Of course, he didn't have many options. He usually wore slacks and a long sleeve, button down shirt and if it was cold or he had a meeting, he'd add a blazer. He pulled out a white button down from his closet and threw it on his unmade bed before reaching out and getting a pair of dark grey slacks.
"I was wondering if we could met up today? Maybe get some dinner together after work?" Taehyung continued on.
Namjoon hesitated. It crossed his mind to at least ask Hoseok if he thought it was a good idea. It seemed like a sensible thing to do and if anything went wrong, then Yoongi could come and bloody some faces.
"Can I answer that at work today? I need to make sure my calendar is open." Namjoon lied.
Taehyung was quick to agree and accept, happy that Namjoon wasn't avoiding him or just tell him to go away. Namjoon hung up soon after, not sparing the time to even give Taehyung a chance to say goodbye. He didn't particularly feel bad about it, either. The younger had taken away precious moments of sleep, it was only fair.
Namjoon dialed Hoseok's number. The older didn't pick up right away but he did answer before the phone automatically cut off.
"Do you know what time it is?" despite the time, Hoseok's voice was clear and fully awake.
"Yes," Namjoon replied, smiling a bit while trying to tug on his pants, "I just wanted to ask you opinion on something."
"Oh? Wha-" Hoseok's voice hitched before he finished his sentence. Namjoon heard him whispering away from the phone speaker, "Hyung stop it, I'm on the phone with Namjoon." Hoseok's voice came through more clearly once again, however strained, "What is it?"
Namjoon tried explaining his situation despite whatever Hoseok and Yoongi might've been doing, "Taehyung asked me to go to dinner with him because he wants to make last Friday up to me."
"You mean that kid Yoongi punched?" Hoseok asked, baffled. The older let out a shaky breath into the phone, muttering something else to Yoongi.
"Yes, him." Namjoon was beginning to get a bit frustrated. What on earth could Yoongi be doing that would stop Hoseok from giving Namjoon his full attention?
Whatever Hoseok was going to say what stopped. He shamelessly moaned into the phone, softly muttering Yoongi's name. It finally dawned on Namjoon what was happening and he quickly offered to hang up, "Do you need to go?"
Another moan, "Let me call you ba-" Hoseok moaned again, "God, Yoongi, right there...."
Namjoon hung up as quickly as possible, slightly disgusted he had heard his two friends doing something naughty. His phone vibrated in his hand. Namjoon opened the message, seeing it was a sloppily texted one from Hoseok saying: Sry abt tht but go
Namjoon threw his phone onto his bed, getting dressed fully. It seemed he was going out with Taehyung. He just needed to make sure the younger knew it was not a date.
