Charlie's P.O.V.

I stared at the clock next to my bed. 11:59. One more minute. 12:00. Happy birthday Charlie.

It was my 18th birthday, the one that people always said was the best. Not for me. My dad always said it was the most important, and you should get to do what you want on that day. So we had planned the whole thing out together, doing whatever I wanted too.

We had been planning it for as long as I can remember. We were going to spend the day in a meadow near our house. Laying in the grass, looking at the clouds, running around, having a picnic, swimming in the lake next to it, climbing the trees in the outskirts of the meadow. It was going to be perfect. But then he died.

I quietly slipped out of my bed and walked to my closet. In front of me was a plain white dress. I put it on a walked towards my mirror. I stared at it, it was always dads favorite. I never understood why, it was just a regular old dress, but he loved it.

I walked down the stairs and out the door, with no shoes. My destination? The meadow.

The tall grass brushed against my legs as I entered the meadow. This was my favorite place in the world. I walked towards the left corner in the back, that was whet his grave was.

I say down, leaning my back against the grave stone and my bare feet laying against the cobblestone that surrounded the grave. Next to me was a box, full of things I wish I could give to him. It was full of letters I wrote to him, flowers, and drawings. A box I memories.

I looked up at the dark sky filled with small twinkling stars. Those stars could be gone for all we know. It takes so long for the light to get here we wouldn't know if it exploded until years later. Thing happen so fast, but why does it take so long for people to know what goin on? I sighed. Life didn't make sense.

I turned so I faced the grave. My fingers traced the words on it,

Christopher Mark Jones. Husband, Father, Son, Brother. Thank you for serving our country.

I stopped when I reached the part I had added in.

He's more than father, he's my best friend.

I single tear ran down my cheek. "It's my birthday Daddy" I whispered, hoping that where've he was, he could hear me.

And then someone grabbed me.

Authors Note: cliff hanger! I wrote this on my phone so it's kind of short, but as soon as I get onto my computer I'll update the next chapter, because, well, it's a cliff hanger. You wouldn't believe what happened to me. I wrote the whole thing on my phone, and right when I was about to post it, I clicked something. Everything was deleted. So I retyped the WHOLE thing on my phone, again. I don't plan on updating the story on my phone ever again. Haha. Sorry if there's mistakes, but like I said, I'm on my phone. So when I get on my computer I'll edit this & write the next chapter! So expect it on a few hours(: thanks for reading! Fan, comment, vote, whatever!
