"I need you to bait your sister. "
Frost's words plagued my mind. Frost gave me three days in preparation but he warned me if I didn't do it on the fourth day, he would kill everyone I loved, including my sister. It was the fourth day and I was running out of time. So I decided to do it, for my sister. She probably hates me now and doesn't want to see my face for abandoning her like that. Maybe she'll forgive me if I told her what I really found out. Maybe.
I stirred from my makeshift bed on the park bench. I needed to get out of the cramp dark tunnels, to get away from Frost's always seeing eye. The sun was up, a couple of people were out in the park. No dogs though. I stepped down from the bench and decided to go for a hunt.
Squirrels were high up in the trees, mice and rats were probably still hiding. Its got to be the birds then. I decided. Luckily a robin was a couple of paces away picking at a worm. Certainly not bothered by my presence. I dropped into a crouch and slithered forwards. Then pounced and gave a killing bite to the neck and settled down to eat. Birds to too me are one of the hardest things to eat for a cat, let alone catch. Birds can hide in the highest branches that are the thinnest, too dangerous for a cat. The best option to hunt in the morning when they are hunting for worms on the ground. But you must be deadly silent and be light on your feet. Somehow birds can feel your footsteps and if you come too close, there goes your lunch. One time dad was teaching me and Nut how to hunt a bird. Nut was too loud and when she pounced she ended flat on her nose.
Once you passed all of that you need to eat it. Like all animals, birds have an extra coating to protect the fatty juicy skin. Cats and dogs have fur, birds, on the other hand, have annoying yet beautiful feathers. So to get to the skin you need to pluck the feathers off or you wouldn't have a nutritious meal and have a mouth full of feathers instead. So that was what I Patches did all morning. I plucked and plucked this dead bird clean then finally sank my teeth into its flesh and ate it to my pleasure.

"Enjoying your meal Patches? I hope it was poisonous. " I looked up to see the beautiful silver green-eyed tabby. Shard loomed over me with annoyance.
" Hello princess." I smiled, masking my actual feelings.
"Going back to that are we flea-brain?"
"Why not? I thought you liked it when I called you that." I meowed innocently. Shard let out a growl. "Stop it."
"Stop what princess?" I said casually. I was loving this.
"Stop masking your true feelings Patches. The only cat who is allowed to that is my uncle. Besides aren't you a hypocrite? You hate liars yet you lie to me? How is that fair?"
Shocked I slip out of character, replacing my face with anger.
" I am the liar? What about you? Far as I understand you never told me your uncle was Frost! I bet he was using you to get to me! And I thought we were friends!" Shard's nose flared up, her fur rose in spikes as a loud snarl rumbled in her chest.

" You think we were friends? You're the most stupid cat I ever met! I could never be friends with a cat who hates my uncle. Besides, I didn't lie! I just withheld the truth! Don't accuse my uncle like that! He was there when my mother was not! I never knew my father. But it was Frost who took me in and cared for me like a real father would. He would never use me that you accuse him of. All he asks are favours like now. Keeping an eye on you so you don't do anything stupid."

I felt my heart broken into shards of glass. I snarled at her, flattening my ears and lashing my tail. " No father should be asking his kit to do questionable favours."
"And what do you know about fathers? Other than they betray you with some heartbreaking truth?" She spat in my face. Stunned. I came up to her face, our nose barely an inch away. Saying the worse, cruel thing I I could think of ."More than you, who doesn't have a father and had to stoop down to look for some scoundrel like Frost for one. " Shard stepped back. Shocked, hurt flashed in her eyes before I snapped around and abandoned her.
"I hate you! You hear that? I hate you! You worthless bee brained excuse for an alley cat! You care too much about being lied to than to realize you are just as guilty! And I was going to stick my neck out for you so you wouldn't have to do this task. Now I change my mind, I hope whatever Frost has in mind hurts you as you hurt me!" She screeched.
