I stared at my brother dumbfounded, unable to speak. Patches stared at his paws his ears burned in embarrassment. Scout, confused whispered to me. "Who is he?" I could almost cry.
"He's your older brother." I informed him still shocked. Patches looked up and studied Scout. The two brothers looked at each other with curiosity.
"You're my brother?" Scout asked him.
Patches nodded. "Looks like I am."
Scout smiled. "Great! Having only sisters are boring." He commented.
This brought Patches to laugh.
The dark tabby who spoke first approached us.
"These are your family Patches?"
Patches nodded. "They are Storm, I thought I would never see my sister again."
"Nor did I you." I say flatly. The brown and white she cat behind them came forward "Enough talk, these cats need proper care, look at them scars all over!" She exclaimed.Indeed we were, my right paw was sore along with the rest of my body. I felt weak and exhausted. The she cat carried Scout while Patches and Storm supported me as we walked to a red and white painted building.
There were cats every where. Some were on the roof, others inside and the rest outside. On a rickety wooden chair was a young man with a straw hat on his ginger hair.
He was watching the cats until he notice us climbing over the hill.
Patches brought us to him as he squated down to see us. There was a sad expression on his face as if he felt sorry for us. He reached out to me and I stiffened. His rough fingers scratched my ears and I could not help purr. Then he scooped me up and ordered my brother to carry Scout and follow him. We went to another building that was made out of stone and wood. It was a two story house and was quite big.He carried me inside and I saw more cats. He took me into the the bathroom placed me in a big wide bowl. Then gathering stuff from the cabinet he gave me a little fish treat. I recognize it as the same treat Jake gave us. I took it and I fell asleep.
When I woke up, I found myself in a basket with Scout snoring away.
We were in someone's bedroom and at the door was Patches watching us while playing with a bell of yarn."What happened?" I yawn.
" Willy healed you and Scout. You two are to stay here until he thinks you two are healed completely." He explained. I examined myself to find my body covered by bandages and my right paw was wrapped in a white one. Scout too was cleaned up and had bandages but not as much as me." So you are a house cat now? I teased.
Patches frowned. "No, it is just that he takes care of us when we can't. We are free to do what evwr we want as long we hunt mice and rats and keep other pest away from his farm. He is a farmer slash vet so he owns the land here and takes care of us when we get sick. His family lives with him too but they are out. " My brother explained. I nodded in understanding." What gave you those scars?" He asked me.
I sighed. "Some type of big dog that lives on top of the mountain. "Patches amber eyes widdened. " You encountered a wolf?" He exclaimed.
" Is that was they are called?"
Patches nodded. "They are very dangerous and a lot worse than any dog you know."
I frowned. "Thanks for the refresher." I say, mentioning my bandages." So," I started. looking around the room. "This is were you have been the whole time?" Patches sighed.
" Yeah, I was on the street for awhile but I couldn't stay, I was afraid of running into you and mama so I ran, left the city and see how far I could go to get away from you. I thought I could be safe in the suburbs but you were always in mind. So when I came here I thought I could be free from what I did but here you are." He scowled. I mirrored his face and felt anger bubbling up. Suddenly he relaxed and gave me a small smile.
"But I am glad to see you anyway, I miss you Nut." Surprised by his response I smiled. "I miss you too Patches."...................................................................
Frost's POV.
The night fell over the city and bright lights glistened in the darkness. I was patrolling the city keeping my eyes on the look out for any of Walnuts cats.
Just thinking about my former brother brings a smile to my mouth.
He got what he deserved.
Then dealing with his children was a very easy like hunting a grounded bird.Patches even helped me get a chance to murder his own father. Nutmeg practically gave me the ability to take over what she had abandoned.
Now I can take over the alleys and become the true leader the alleys so desperately need.I planning to go home when I heard a a hiss and yowls of terror.
I followed the sound and came to a closed off alley and two stray cats growling at a brilliantly, fluffy white she cat. Her green eyes were widening in fear. Her claws were out to defend herself but I could tell she was frightened. I would normally walk away but at the same time I could not get my eyes off of the cat. Her amazimgly clean fur made her stick out as a house cat.I recognized that the two cats growling at her were cats I fought a couple months back when I was developing my territory.
I approached them quietly then growled. "Slate and Pin, don't you two have anything else to do?" They wirlled around in shock to see me.
"F-frost! I didn't notice you! H -how have you been buddy?" Asked Slate nervously. I examined my freshly sharpened claws. "Hmm how have I been? Oh I have been doing great, killing a bunch of cats who have done me wrong." I looked at them in the eye. "Do you want to know who else have done me wrong? " Pin and Slate gulped.
" My brother, my love and.. you two." I sneered. I didn't bother wait for them to run I sprang on them instantly and killed them on the spot.
"Not bad for a nightly killing." I murmured. Washing my paws. In the corner of my eye I noticed the white she cat approached me.
" Thank you." She spoke softly. Her green eyes glowed. I purred. "No problem, do me a favor and stay away from stray cats. The alleys are no place for a house cats, especially when there are fights breaking out." I told her. The cat nooded in gratitude and left with a purr. I watched her leave and suddenly wondered if she would get lost or get into more trouble. So followed her through the city until she was safe in her home. When the cat door slam shut I sighed.
She was so beautiful.
I frowned and shook my head.
No don't be so daft, it was just a one night thing. Now go home and forget that this ever happened. I home and went to bed, despite all my efforts I couldn't get her out of my head.Oh Frost what have you done to your self? I wondered.
