Peper's POV

I woke up to the sound of urgent meows and tiny claws raking my belly. Blinking to adjust to the morning light. It was my second litter making up a fit.
"Kits what's wrong?" I asked with a yawn.

"Nutmeg she isn't there!" I look over to my eldest daughter's nest to find it empty. I frown a little but instantly shook my head. "She's probably out on a patrol. There is nothing to worry." I reassured them. Nutmeg is always up and about, doing her father proud.

I believe in her, no matter what she does she'll do it because of she thinks it is for the best.

After I fed the kits with the little pieces of prey left from the food basket. I went to check on Nutmeg, she was supposed to be in another meeting in the back room.
I went over and heard angry meows and snarls. Concerned I rushed in.

In the centre, there was Jay and Violet, Nutmeg's friends. There was a sad look on Jay and an angry one on Violet while everyone around them had raised fur. Nutmeg nowhere in sight.

"What's going on here?" I demanded.
Ash, one of the volunteers who helped to keep my newborns safe spoke up.

" It's your daughter Nutmeg! She's gone! On the run by the sounds of it"
He glared.
Sasha, the ginger nodded. " Jay and Violet just finished telling us how she left to find a new land-" Ash interrupted her.
"Rubbish! She ran away just like her brother."

"Enough!" I demanded.
The two cats clamped their jaws shut.

I turned to Jay and Violet with hope.
"Did she say where she was going? "

Jay nodded."The farmlands, she is hoping to find this place in order to bring us there for a better life."
He said softly.
"Did she mention when she was going to come back?"

The grey tabby hung his head.
I felt lightheaded and wobbly on my feet.
My heart was being cracked under the weight of the news.

First Patches now Nutmeg.
Why are my kits running away from me?

After deciding to take up the mantle again I returned to my kits.
But only saw Rings and Ginger.
"Where is Scout?" I demanded.
Rings who was pinning Ginger frowned. "He was playing with us earlier." She informed me.
Fear clouds my mind.
He wouldn't run away, would he?

Meanwhile, on the roof, a disobedient kitten scanned the streets with his amber eyes. His dark brownish blackish fur ruffled in the wind.
With a twitch of his whiskers, he quickly found his sister's stale scent.

He knew she was going to leave last night, but he wasn't going to let her go off on her own on some adventure.

He was scared and would rather stay inside, but his heart longs for adventure and so he will do it.
With a deep breath, he clambered down, following the scent he raced after his sister.

"Wait for me Nut, I'm coming!" Shouted Scout.
