It took a few days for everything to sink in. Monday went by like any normal day. Tuesday, almost everything I saw made me think of him. Wednesday was the day of the break down.
Abby came over after school so we could do some homework together, but mainly because I didn't want to be alone.
"You alright?" she asked.
"Yeah I'm fine."
"No, you're not."
"Can we just focus on math right now?"
"Only if you tell me what's on your mind first."
"What's on my mind right now is finding the tangent of x. Which is what should be on your mind too."
"Come on, it's been three days. You haven't said a word about Magic Boy."
"I don't wanna talk about it."
"Have you spoken to him at all?"
"I'm not having this discussion. You are here to help me with homework. If you can't do that, feel free to leave."
"Okay, calm down it was just a question."
"To answer you question, no. And I told you I'm fine."
"Em, you're not fine. I can tell just by looking at you."
"OKAY, I'm a wreck. I miss him like crazy. And I'm pissed offf because just as I start to enjoy my happiness, it gets taken away."
"Well, first, I think you should breathe. And hey, it's only been a few days. Let's not jump to conclusions. Why don't you call him or send him a DM. I'm pretty sure he misses you too."
"You see, I would, but he's probably busy. I don't want to seem obsessive."
"Fine, I'll call him." She took out her phone.
"No, please don't do that."
"It's ringing" she teased. She put it on speaker
"I'm begging you, please just-"
He picked up.
"Hey Abby what's up?" I loved the sound of his voice.
"Hey, are you busy?" Abby asked.
"No, why? Is everything okay?"
Abby continued the conversation while I stayed quiet.
"Everything's fine. Just wanted to know how things were back home."
"Things are great, thanks for asking. How's Em?" I cringe at his question.
"Oh, you know, the usual. She really misses you. And it's come to my attention that you guys haven't spoken in the last few days. What's up with that?"
"I've been kind of busy. I've wanted to talk to her but I couldn't find the time."
"I told you" I whispered.
She shook her head. "Well, if you want, you can talk to her now."
"No" I tried to keep my voice down.
"Is she with you?" he asked.
"Yeah. And you've been on speaker this entire time."
"Hey Emy" he sounded a little high pitched.
"Hi" I said while rolling my eyes at Abigail.
"Just so you know, I was planning on messaging you later on. Like I said before, I just haven't been able to set aside time."
