Chapter 20

(A/N: I'm on a role this week 😁 enjoy!)

Previously on The Wolf Shifter's Love:

As I reach them I see a group of angry villagers.

"Stand back your highness!" Kija exclaims.

"There!"

"They came back!"

"Dispose of them!"

"Wh-who are these people?" Yoon asks.

"They want to eliminate us to keep the Blue Dragon secret. But don't worry! I won't use my power on ordinary people" he says, clearly using his inhuman fist to hit one of them on the head.

"Why must you do this?" Yona questions the villages.

"Your highness! It's dangerous" Kija says holding her back.

One of them swings a knife at Yoon. I start walking forward to interfere, when all of a sudden the caves begin to violently shake.

"What?!"

"An earthquake!"

"Aagh!"

"Your highness!"

That's the last I remember before a large rock knocks me over, followed by one landing on my tail cause immense pain. Finally, one hits my head, knocking me out cold.

Y/N POV

~Dream~

I'm surrounded by fire. Everywhere I turn there's destruction. People and wolves alike are scattered around, most likely dead.

'Where am I?'

I look down and notice I'm in wolf form, but something is different. I'm smaller.

'Is this a dream?'

"(Y/N)!"

'Someone is calling me. But who?'

I turn to see a distraught woman searching the area frantically. "(Y/N) where are you!" She screams.

I try to call out to her, but nothing comes out. I can't even move. Suddenly she spots me and rushes towards me, scooping up my small form.

'Who is this woman? She seems so familiar'

"Looks like you're the last of them" a sinister voice calls out.

"No! Please!" The woman cries, attempting to flee the scene with me in her arms.

"There's no point in running. Your species will be eradicated and you can't stop me!" The voice calls out.

I look towards the voice and see a woman in a cloak with a psychotic smirk on her face. She is neither human or Wolf Shifter, in fact she has a long golden tail littered with black spots and two cat like ears of the same colouring. I move my attention to her face, emerald eyes with black slits.

She pounces towards us, shifting in mid air. In her place, a ferocious leopard.

The woman screams infright, dashing into the trees for cover. She places me into a bush.

"(Y/N) honey, I want you to hide here and don't make a sound. When the nasty leopard chases after mommy, I want you to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. Can you do that for mommy?" She says sweetly, with a forced smile.

'Mommy?'

I have no control as my small form nods in agreement.

"Good girl, mommy loves you. Please stay safe" she says, a tear trickling down her cheek. She kisses the top of my head and takes one last look, before running in the opposite direction.

A terrifying growl erupts into the forest, as the leopard runs after her. I run in the opposite direction like she asked, once I am a good distance away, I hear the blood curdling scream of my mother.

~End of Dream~

I wake up in shock, tears running down my face.

'That was too real to be a dream'

I look around at my location, 'I'm not in the Blue Dragon's village?'

My eyes land on the group, they're staring at me.

"(Y/N)... are you ok?" Yona asks with concern. I realise I still have tears running down my face.

I quickly wipe them away and return to my stoic expression.

"I'm fine" I simply reply.

"Doesn't seem like it" Hak states rather bluntly.

"I said I'm fine!" I say, raising my voice slightly.

I stand up from my spot and walk into the forest to think. Thankfully my enhanced healing means I'm almost 100% recovered. 

What I didn't notice was the lingering gaze of a certain blue haired dragon.
