Previously on The Wolf Shifter's Love:

"You never know until you ask. When the time is right, tell him how you feel. I know you won't regret it" I say.

"Ok, I will" she smiles.

"Good" I grin.

"So does this mean you forgive me?" She asks.

"Of course, you idiot" I laugh, ruffling her hair as we walk back to everyone.

"Hey!" She protests.

"Hmm?" I walk towards Shin-ah as he stares out across the ocean. "What's wrong Shin?"

"Ships... there are ships gathering in the harbour" he says, gaining everyone's attention.

"How many?" Gi-gan asks.

"Seven" he states.

"Seven ships?!" Everyone exclaims, aside from me of course.

Gi-gan tells everyone to head inside so we can devise a plan to combat the new occurrence.

Y/N POV

Everyone is currently surrounding a small table discussing the recent developments concerning Kum-ji's movements. I decided to listen to the discussion from a far corner, leaning against the wall. I don't tend to involve myself in things like this, as they bore me immensely.

"Kum-ji's probably going to be making a significant deal involving human trafficking with the Kai Empire" Gi-gan informs the group.

"The Kai Empire?!" Yona exclaims.

"The area of the Kai Empire that lies closest to Awa does regular business with him. Kum-ji is slowly increasing his military might. I suspect that's because he's making a very important deal in the vicinity. He's been fighting us pirates for years now. He's probably out to crush us for good. If we face him in the harbour, civilians in the area will get hurt. So we'll attack Kum-ji's ships out at sea. Right between Awa and the Kai Empire, his prospective clients" Gi-gan explains, gesturing to an area on a map.

"We need to know what time they're heading out and which ship they're holding the girls on" Jae-ha adds.

"Right. Kum-ji will probably use the people he's trafficking as hostages. If we attack the ships indiscriminately, we could endanger them. But if we do nothing, those women will be delivered to the Kai Empire. Is there any way we can recover them safely?" She ponders.

"If Kum-ji has so much riding on this, doesn't that mean there's a good chance he'll be there? Wouldn't it be faster to find the Boss and capture him? After all, we've got some powerful allies now!" A crew member suggests, referring to Shin, Kija, Hak and I.

I release a large yawn and look to my left. Kija has a proud look on his face, while Shin-ah is preoccupied with Ao. Hak has begun to snore.

'Well at least I lasted longer than him' I think, releasing another yawn.

"Regardless, we need more information. This is the perfect opportunity for us. For over a decade, Yang Kum-ji And his fellow officials have oppressed the people of Awa and corrupted this city. We need to do whatever it takes to defeat them, and regain this town's freedom. I'll be right in the thick of things with you this time. Follow me to the end of the line, boys" Gi-gan finishes.

"Yeah!" Everyone shouts in unison.

My sensitive ears pick up a startled snort, as the shouts wake Hak from his unintentional nap. I snicker at his reaction.

Everybody starts to file out of the small room to prepare for the upcoming battle. I push myself from the wall ready to start walking, only I stumble. Kija, who is closest to me, reacts quickly and catches me.

"Are you ok, (Y/N)?" He questions with concern.

"Yeah, just went a little light headed for a second there" I reply, slightly confused on what happened.

"Are you sure? You look a little pale" Yoon informs.

Our group are the only ones left in the room, aside from Gi-gan and Jae-ha who are still here.

"I'm fine" I say, pulling away from Kija.

However, the movement causes me to stumble once again. This time it is Shin-ah who steadies my form. He puts his hand on my chin and raises my head slightly to look at him, as he touches his forehead to mine. He stays like that for a second, before pulling away.

"You have a fever" he concludes.

"But that's not possible" I say, my eyebrows creasing in confusion.

"Why?" Yoon questions.

"Because Wolf Shifters don't get sick. Our accelerated healing makes it impossible for any type of bacteria to reach the symptoms stage. It is eliminated before it gets the chance to do any damage" I explain.

"If that's true, then what's causing the fever?" Hak asks.

"I don't know. It's not like I can just ask another Wolf Shifter" I say, clinging to Shin-ah as I start to feel weak.

He gently lowers me to the ground, allowing me to lean against the wall.

"Kija, did your village know anything about the species in general" Yona asks hopefully.

"I'm afraid not. We were only taught of the legend, not the species" he replies.

"This isn't good! What if she's dying!" Yona panics.

"That's a bit over dramatic, Yona. I'm fine" I reassure her.

"No you're not" she states.

"Would I lie to you?" I say.

"Yes, yes you would" she answers.

"Ok fine, you got me there" I laugh slightly.

'What's ever is happening to me, it's happening fast. I'm losing my strength. What's going on?'

I start to breathe heavily and Yoon quickly grabs his bag in hopes of helping in some way.

"This isn't good, she's losing consciousness" he says.

"I think... I'm going to... take... a nap" I say weakly.

"No! (Y/N) you need to stay awake! We don't know what's happening to you, falling asleep could be the worst possible thing you could do!" Yoon shouts, trying to keep me awake, but it's too late.

I start to drift off into the darkness.

"(Y/N)!"

"(Y/-"

The last thing I feel is Shin-ah's hand gripping my own hand in worry.

To Be Continued...

(A/N: I would have wrote this chapter sooner, but I may have spent the last 2-3 days binge watching seasons 1-7 of Voltron 😅 I didn't expect it to be so good and I ended up hooked 😂 the storyline is brilliant, I definitely recommend it. I don't think I can wait till November for season 8)
