Jake:"Should I open the windows a little, miss?"

T:"Yes... And please... can you call me by my first name?"

Jake:"I never call a client by his first name."

T:"What is it? A kind of code?"

Jake's look darkens.

Jake:"I'd rather not talk about Mr. Carter in his absence."

T:"What? Are you worried you'll get into trouble?"

Jake:"No. It's a matter of principle."

So I stay quiet and make do with watching the streets pass by. The big apple is calm at this time of night.

The calm before the storm...
