Ch10 ..................... U

Suddenly, Ryan lets go of my hand and gets up from his chair, putting one knee down on the floor.

T:"Ryan...?"

My voice is abnormally high-pitched. The beating of my heart accelerates considerably as I see him take out a little black box from the inside pocket of his jacket.

(Is he about to do what I think he is?!)

He smiles the tenderest of smiles. I read so much in his grey eyes that are staring up at me. Love, but also fear.

He's never seemed so vulnerable. It's as if, this time, it was I who held his heart in the palm of my hand.

R:"I've though it over and over ... I don't want to wait, I know what I want and life is too short, I want to live every single second of it, with you."

He gently opens the small box and pronounces those four magic words:

R:"Will you marry me?"

(Oh!! I'm going to faint!! For sure!)

I cover my hands over my mouth. My God, I'm totally overwhelmed!!

A solitary diamond shines bright like a thousand lights!

The object is beautiful but it's especially Ryan's proposal that has made me speechless!

I can't get a single word out! My lips form an "o" and my hands are clenched on my mouth.

It's so wonderful!

This is the most romantic moment of my life! I'm so happy!!

I struggle to hold back the tears of joy.

I recover the use of my vocal cords and reassure poor Ryan who must be freaking out!

T:"Yes, Ryan! Yes! Of course, I want to be your wife!"

Pronouncing this sentence seems so surreal!

I throw myself into his arms.

I don't care if I'm in the middle of a restaurant and a very posh one at that. I leap from my chair and don't give him time to stand that I'm already in his arms!

T:"Oh my god Ryan !! I love you so much!"

I take his lips with passion! As if kissing him was the breath of life!

He returns my kiss with the same intensity before calming down a little.

Some tears eventually run down onto my smiling lips.

R:"They're tears of joy, I hope ..."

T:"Absolutely"

He carefully extracts the jewel from it's box and takes my hand.

He slides the ring on my finger and I refrain from bursting into tears.

I watch the gem glimmer, its sparkle dancing in the candlelight.

T:"Ryan ... It's ... It's beautiful!"

Anyway, I've only had that word in my mouth ever since we arrived in Paris!

My God! I, Tayla White, am engaged to Ryan Carter! It's going to take me a while to realise  it and come down from my little cloud ...
