A deep rough voice came from the bottom of the stairs had me halt midway down. Holding the rail in a death grip and locking my knees before they gave out with exhaustion. A man, I vaguely remembered, stood there looking up at me. In his white dress shirt and pressed trousers looking very elite. White blonde hair, ice blue eyes, and chiselled features making him very handsome, but the look in his eyes screamed military. They were not so much cold but had a no nonsense behind them. Even fully clothed you could see the strength and muscles of his body. A soft genuine smile played on his lips softening the hard core the man could be. "I'm glad to see you up and around Samantha," his voice gentle and inviting.

"You're..." was all I got out before he took my hand: temperature dropped, a violent shiver going down my spine then the jolt of electricity shooting up my arm. I wasn't prepared for the assault and too weak, my legs gave out. The man scooped me up in his arms before I had a chance to hit the stairs. Catching my breath then said. "Fuck, you must be Lawrence." I was too tired to fight it. I laid my head against his shoulder while he carried me over to the couch. This man was powerful or it was because I was not yet back to myself, which ever it was it hit me harder than any other time. "That's weird, I only get that big of a reaction the first time I touch one of you and if I remember correctly this was not the first time." More talking to myself than anything, trying to figure out why.

"No, it wasn't," he said, that knowing smile on his lips.

I settled on the couch. "Oh God," I moaned, hiding my face in my hands. How many people had seen me? How many people were in my house?

"I wish we could have met on different circumstances, but there's nothing to be embarrassed about." Sitting beside me, knees touching I could feel a gentle calming coming from him.

Fighting the calm he generated and wanting to curl up beside him, I welcomed my anger with open arms. "Huh. Really? I can't stand looking at myself in the mirror naked, never mind," waving my hand to room full eyes on me, "this. UGH!"

"Sam!" Mason's relief was undeniable as he came into the room.

Meeting his joy filled eyes, a flashback nuzzling close, taking in his scent and something about protecting him while sandwich between him and Matt. Shame and embarrassment once again took over. "Shit," I said with a groan, closing my eyes and sighed.

"Hey," Mason knelt in front of me, hands on my face pulling it up to look at him. "Look at me," voice soft but held command. "Don't do this. You are a beautiful woman and have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. Plus we didn't have time to ogle over you, we were too worried about you," his smile was a little too bright, he definitely had a good look.

With those words came the realization on why he and the others cared for me. Anger and hurt allowed me to say the next few words without thought. "You listen to me Mason," eyes narrowing, "The only reason you, any of you feel this way is because of what I am and how it affects you. None of it is real, you are made to have feelings for me, and sooner or later, preferably sooner, you'll get that through your thick head of yours," I spat out.

"What!" he sounded aghast.

"Is that what you believe?" Jack's boisterous voice came from the other side of the room. He never made me feel stupid, always keeping his voice even without sarcasms. "I think you may have taken my words in the wrong text. Yes, we have a special connection to you as you do to us, but it's not in the way you think. We do have the need to protect you, that I'll give you but for our feelings, no. They are heightened, but what people feel for you is genuine. Sam, you are a very attractive women with a big heart so don't sell yourself short. It's like saying your feelings for us are not real," he explained.
