Niall's POV

I woke up the morning after Katie's birthday and put on a pair of jeans, a white shirt, a blue zip-up and a Celtics snapback with the pair of blue trainers she had picked out for me.

I drove to her school, and parked next to the field. I got out of the car and walked over to the benches. I noticed Katie warming up on the field. She smiled, and I waved back. I took a seat in the bleachers.

A few minutes later, all the girls did a huddle before the ref told everyone to take their places. Katie was on the right offensive position. The ref blew the whistle, and Katie's team had the ball.

-------

There were five minutes left in the game. I had, surprisingly, not been noticed yet, which was really cool. I wanted it to be all about my girl. I watched on as she dribbled down the field, fighting off another player. She displayed her footskills and fought her off, but came face-to-face with a defender. Katie whirled the ball across the field, to Aileen, another offense player.

Almost immediaely after she crossed the ball to Aileen, I saw her try to run, but she collapsed on the field. She yelped in pain. I jumped from my seat and ran down the steps of the bleachers. The referee called a time out, and the coach ran onto the field. After a minute of them talking, Katie got up and limped to the sideline. After they reached the side, a sub was put in and the game went on.

I ran around to the other side of the field to go see her. I came to her and sat down next to her. She had an ice pack on her ankle.

"What the hell happened?" I asked.

"The girl stepped on my ankle when I tried to run. I think I just rolled it, though."

"Does it hurt?"

"It's okay, Niall,I'll be fine. I actually want to go back in. Coach?" She looked to her coach in anticipation, with a sort of begging expression.

"No, Katie, I don't want you to get hurt." She said.

"We're tied with a minute left. I can do it; just let me play. Please. It's my last game, and you know I can do it. You know I do better with pressure." The coach sighed.

"What about your foot?." She asked.

"I once danced an entire set with a twisted ankle, and I can do this. It hurts, but I can push through it. I don't care, I'm going back in."

"Fine." The coach agreed, and Katie got up.

"You sure about this?" I asked.

"I've never been more sure. I'm not sitting back and watching, Niall. I'm fighting this." She said, and I could see the fire in her eyes. It sparkled. I couldn't stop it or put it out; that kind of fire always shines, no matter what. I found it truly amazing, that in just that one moment, I saw how much fire and passion she had inside of her, and she had enough of it worth of a crowd full of people. I was not about to stop something that I probably loved most about her. I nodded and gave her a quick kiss. "My little fighter, you are." I said and ran back to the other side.

I stood behind the fence that separated the fans from the field. I leaned against it, and a few girls came up to me.

"Niall, can we have a picture?" One asked.

"Listen, girls, my girl's in the game now, so do ya mind if we do it after the game? I promise!" They nodded and I turned back to the field. Katie was in the center. The other team had the ball. They got around the offense, but Katie stayed back by the half line. I watched as the defender stole the ball and passed it to the left offensive, and then it sailed to Katie's feet.

She began to run toward the other goal, and I ran with her. I ran along the sideline. "GO KATIE! YOU'VE GOT THIS! KEEP GOING! FIGHT, KATIE, FIGHT. YOU CAN DO IT!" I screamed, and soon she had fought past the defenders and had made a perfect cross into the right side of the goal.

Katie had won the game. The crowd cheered, and I screamed. I looked to the person standing next to me."That's my girfriend! That' my girlfriend who scored!" I said. Katie had began to do Irish dance leaps in the middle of the field. She definitely was a fighter, that one.

"Good job, then." He replied. I hopped the fence onto the field. The team was cheering histerically. I ran up to Katie and hugged her. I lifted her up and she was on my shoulders with her fists held high.

"YEA! WE WON!" She screamed, and someone handed her the championship trophy, which she hoisted high into the air as she cheered, and I lowly spun her around.

I set her back down and told her to meet me at the car. I took a few pictures with fans, and then went to stand by the car. I called Zayn, after I noticed we had not talked in a few days.

"Hey Zayn."

"Hey,mate."

"What're you up to?"

"Right now, I'm just hanging out at home. How's home?"

"It's great. Absolutely amazing, actually."

"How's Katie?''

"Aw,man, she's great. I know I've known her fer only a week, but god, Zayn, it's just something about her. I don't know. I mean, today, she had the championship football game, and she twisted her ankle. She went back in and scored the winning goal. She's got such a fire about her. I love her, Zayn."

"That's great, Niall. I can't wait to meet her. It sounds like you really like her."

"I really do. I didn't know you could fall so hard so fast for someone."

''It's love, lad."

"I know. How's your parents and sisters?"

"They're great actually. We're going out to dinner tonight, and I've been seeing a lot of my cousins, like Aaroosa. She's doing real well."

"Well, that's great. Oh, I'll talk to ya, soon, my bird just got out. Bye, lad."

"Bye, Niall." I hung up as Katie walked towards me with the biggest smile on her face. I opened my arms, and she crashed into me, and I spun her around. I kissed her head.

"Congrats, love, you did amazing!"

"I couldn't have done it without you, Niall." I smiled and kissed her.

"How's the foot, love?"

"It hurts a bit, but I just hafta get a brace on tonight. It'll be fine in two days." She said, as if she had only tripped. The way I had seen it, it should be a sprain.

"Are you sure? That was a nasty fall."

"Aw, Niall, if we dwelled on every injury and stopped to treat it perfectly back to health, where would we be? We'd be at home with the aspirin. Must move on!" I smiled. She was definitely a girl-on-the-go. She wasn't going to stop her dreams.

I drove her to the park, where things always seemed to go perfectly. I led her to the middle of the grassy field. "Katie, I've had the most amazing week of my life with you, and I would just like to know..." I took a knee.

"Niall? What're you doing?" She seemed surprised. I gestured to a big sign that was on top of my house just down the street. It said 'Prom?'.

"Will you go to prom with me, Katie?"

"Yes!" I got up and hugged her.

"Let's get some lunch." I said, and she smiled.
