Katie's POV
Around three o' clock New York time the next morning, we landed in the beautiful New York City. We were met by several screaming fans. Niall put his arm around me and we made our way through the crowd. We were put into a van bringing us where we needed to be. I thought I would be back at the hotel with the boys, but the van stopped outside of Vera Wang.
"Wait, why are we here?" I asked Elaine, an assistant.
"You're going to pick up a dress, then a car will take you to get your hair and makeup done, then you'll come to the hotel to get dressed, then you're coming with us to the Grammy's." She explained.
"So I won't see her until, like seven?" Niall askd.
"Yes. Bye, Katie." Elaine said. I kissed Niall. "I'll see you later, dear." I told him and he took my hand, and we were separated only when it was positively necessary. I walked into the Vera Wang salon, with Elaine, and I looked back just in time to see the car driving away.
I looked around and Vera herself came up to me. "You must be Cathleen. I'm Vera, nice to meet you."
"Hello, please, call me Katie. It's so nice of you to do this on such short notice."
"Oh, it's no problem at all! Come on, let's get you a Grammy dress!" Vera took my hand and led me deeper into the salon. She sat me down on a couch and she sat next to me. A few ladies brought out some choices, a silver short dress, a hot pink high-low, and a white long one that looked more like a wedding dress. I shook my head, and they were wisked away.
Eight more choices were brought\ out and shown, and as much as I wanted to be an easy customer who chose quickly, none of the dresses I had seen were me. I could not see myself wearing them in the slightest. I was feeling completely exasperated and desperate for the right dress. It had to be the right dress. It was the fricken Grammy's!
"Vera, I love your designs, I really do, but what if we don't find it?" I said, and Vera gave a reassuring pat on my leg.
"I know, honey, but we'll find it, don't you worry."
i was about to cry out of being so overwhelmed by the pressure, when a gorgeous purple chiffon fabric came into my view. I perked up and looked at the breathtaking dress.
"Oh." I said, letting out a gasp.
"Do you like this one, dear?" Vera asked. I smiled at her.
"It's perfect. This is the one." Vera let out a smile. "I'll get it ready for you and have it sent to the hotel."
"Thank you so much, Vera. It's been a pleasure." I gave her a hug.
"Alright, Katie, it's time to go." Elaine pressured me.
"Well, Vera, thank you again." I said.
"Oh, it's no problem. Please, come back to the salon for any occasion. It's been a pleasure working with you."
"Thanks. Bye, now." I hugged her. "Goodbye, sweetheart." Elaine ushered me outside and into a waiting car. It drove us to a high-end hair salon in the city. I came in and was greeted by a man named Jacob.
"Hello, darling! Cathleen, is it?"
"Yes, and you must be Jacob! Great to meet you!"
"Alright, let's get to this hair of yours. Here, sit, sit, sit." He gestured to a black salon chair. I sat down and put my bag at my feet. He ran his fingers through my light brown, slightly curly hair. "Now, what would you like to do with this?" He asked.
"Uh, I'm not too sure. I've got a purple dress with silver accents. I think I'd like an updo, but otherwise, I'm leaving you to your devices."
"Great, how about a chignon?"
