Spending time in the library is what we do best, and when I say “we”, I mean my sister and I. My sister is a freshman in high school and is fifteen years old. We get along nice, or so I think. After our dad died, all we had was each other and nothing else. After a traumatic loss, people usually end up getting closer and that is just what happened.
“Hey look at this attractive man,” I said pointing at the computer screen. That’s all we did in the library was play on the computers. Ever since mom converted and all material things were banished, my sister and I have stayed here for numerous hours to play on the computer and goof around. The librarians did not really mind and they enjoyed our presence since the modern world was improving and books were becoming more and more outdated.
“Oh him? That’s Joe Sugg… he is so fuc- I mean freaking attractive,” she said admiring the computer screen. Why was she ogling over this boy she had never met before? Granted, he was a beautiful man. His face looked like it could have been carved in Ancient Rome and put on display for women to fawn over and over again. I would.
“Girls, you have been here for about five hours now,” Margaret the librarian said. She was a cute old lady of about seventy-five and she loved books. Ever since dad died she has been really sympathetic and has almost taken us in. The library was our home away from home. Layla and I really respected her and after all she has done I would need to thank her ten times over in death.
“Sorry Margaret, it won’t happen again.. Well, it will. But later,” I smiled at her and she shook her head and walked away. Layla nonchalantly pulled out her chair and shut down the computer. We slowly walked out of the library, not wanting to go home or advance further in the day.
It was hot outside even though it was about seven o’clock. The sun was setting and I loved watching it go down slowly. I turned to Layla and looked at her, “I don’t want to go home. Let’s just stay here a little bit longer.” And with that we sat at a park bench outside of the library. Joggers were running by us and acknowledging us by a friendly wave. The worst part about living in a small city was knowing everyone and having to wave to them all the time.
Just then I heard the roar of a familiar engine and I looked up from the ground which I was weirdly admiring. Is that Justin’s car? Upon further inspection I noticed that it was in fact Justin’s car. Why was he just sitting there, in a vacant parking lot?
“Hello Marilyn,” Layla punched my arm,” I was just telling you how Joe Sugg is an Internet God… Oh my god, did you tell Justin to meet us up here?”
“No… But he better have a good reason for being up here.” I was thinking about all the reasons he could be here… Was it one of those cliché drug deals? No, it couldn’t be. He did not do drugs, or so I thought. I took Layla’s hand and we hid behind a huge Douglas fir tree.
“What are you doing?” she asked in a whisper. I held up my hand in a ‘shut-up’ kind of way. I did not want her to blow my cover by screaming or doing something stupid. Wait, what if he already saw me? I peeked my head out from beside the tree and he did not seemed to notice anything, which was a good sign.
A few minutes passed and a beautiful red 1976 Cadillac convertible pulled up next to his car. What was going on? A woman- blonde, beautiful, and definitely looked like a supermodel came out of the car and entered into Justin’s passenger seat. Woah, what the hell? I ducked my head back behind the tree and started to panic.
