One day, on a weekend, I went down to my mailbox to see if I had any mail.
Unfortunately, I did and they were all bills.
I fingered through them as I went back to my apartment.
My fingers froze on a golden envelope that was addressed to me in fancy handwriting.
"What could this be," I muttered as I set the rest of my mail down on the kitchen table.
I took the golden envelope and went to sit on my couch in the living room.
"You are proudly invited to attend the annual ball of..." I trailed off as my eyes widened at the sight of who was hosting this ball. "...Lord Nobel Michel?! Next Saturday?! With Glenn?!"
What, was this some kind of prank?
Surely, it wasn't. My eyes glanced at the Royal seal of Lord Nobel Michel. This letter was legit.
After a few minutes, my phone rang.
I picked up the phone without looking who had been calling.
"Did you get it?" It was Glenn and he sounded excited.
"Well, hello to you too." I muttered as I still looked at the invitation in my hand. "Are you serious? You want me to attend Lord Nobel Michel's Ball with you?"
"Yes," Glenn laughed at the sound of my voice. "You sound so surprised, Linda."
"I-- well-- I mean, wouldn't you want to go with someone else?" Someone of higher class than me? I think if I had said that to Glenn, he'd just get angry with me-- or worse!
Glenn chuckled. "I don't see anyone else perfect to go with other than you, Linda."
I blushed. "Oh, Glenn!"
He laughed. "Are you blushing?"
"Wha-- no!" I lied as I felt my face burn. How did he know that I was blushing?
"Heh, you're blushing all right."
I shook my head as I rolled my eyes.
How he knew that I was blushing was beyong me, but I managed to change the subject.
"What should I wear to this occasion?"
"A dress," He said matter-of-factly, "but I will be providing everything. Even the ride to and from the party."
"Glenn..." I trailed off as I sighed. "You don't have to do that."
"I know," I could hear him smiling. "I want to, Linda."
"All right," I let out an exasperated breath, defeated. "Thank you, for wanting to bring me to a party at Lord Nobel Michel's Castle."
"You"re welcome."
For a while, there was silence on both our ends before I had the courage to say goodbye.
"Well, I-I'll see you then." I stuttered.
Really? I thought. You chose that time to stutter?
He laughed. "See you then, Linda."
Then, I pressed the end button on my phone. Ending our conversation.
Was I really going to another Ball at Lord Nobel Michel's Castle? It seems like it.
"Oh, Glenn." I chuckled as I laid my head against the couch and tilted my head up to the ceiling.
I was excited, I had to admit that because I was going to see Glenn.
What is this feeling that I feel in my stomach? I thought as I turned on the TV after a while. Was I beginning to like Glenn? Maybe.
Never have I had liked a guy before.
This was my first.
