After having a conversation with Yu about how I should be fighting for Glenn, how Glenn and I should both be fighting for each other, I went back to the Ballroom. To the party, the engagement party.
I searched for my brother and the other Princes. When I did, they were surrounding Glenn and Lady Elizabeth.
How am I going to fight for him? I thought as I stared at Glenn with a longing gaze. Is Yu right? That it isn't too late to fight for Glenn, to be with him? Because it sure looks like it.
You know the answer to that, the inner voice smirked.
I sighed as I took a champagne when a waiter stopped by me.
As I drank the champagne I was lost in thought that I didn't even realize that Leighton was right in front of me, blocking my view of Glenn.
Leighton gave me a disapproving look.
"What," I stared in to his eyes with an innocent look. I took another sip of my champagne.
"Linda," He scolded me as he took away the champagne from me.
"Oh, come on," I half-whined. "We're in Oriens. It's okay for me to drink alcohol here."
My brother stiffened as he finished the rest of my champagne.
"That doesn't matter," He said as he set the champagne glass on a nearby table. "Just because you're in Oriens that doesn't mean that you get to drink all you want. You live in a country where it's illegal."
"But we're not in Charles." I pointed out.
Leighton put his face in mine and gave me a serious look.
"You're not drinking," He said with finality. "Not now, not until you're of age. Regardless where we are."
"Kill joy," I muttered as I crossed my arms over my chest in defeat.
My brother chuckled as he downed his champagne.
I was just about to look for Glenn until I found him right in front of me, without his fiancé.
"Would you like to dance with me?" He said as he became uncomfortable by Leighton staring at him.
"I thought that was Lady Elizabeth's job," I said as I stared into his light brown eyes.
Glenn sighed. "Yes, well, she had to take a breather for a while and..." He trailed off and shrugged.
"Okay, fine."
He held out a hand and I willingly took it.
Leighton cleared his throat as Glenn whisked me away to the middle of the dance floor.
"So, what's the real reason why you wanted to dance with me?" I said as I looked in to his eyes again.
"I can't just dance with you anymore?"
"Not when we're at your engagement party. No." I said curtly before he sent me out into a spin.
Glenn sighed when he brought me back from the spin.
"I guess you're right."
"So," I prompted.
Carefully, he leaned in and whispered into my ear, "We have to talk."
"About," I whispered back.
"You know what we have to talk about, Linda."
I moved away from him a little. "Did Yu talk to you?" I gave him a suspicious look.
