After I had basically ran into Glenn at Edwards-- I kept my nose in my studies. Leighton still didn't approve of that, but he didn't blame me.
"Want to go for a swim?" He asked one morning as he turned on the flat screen in the kitchen.
I chuckled as I made us breakfast.
"Yeah, not unless you want to see me drown."
"Right," He grimaced. "Well, I can always teach you how to swim...again."
"Again," I frowned as I put scrambled eggs, waffles, toast on both of our plates before I brought them to the kitchen table.
He laughed as he grabbed the carton of orange juice from the refrigerator.
"What, did you think that mom or dad had taught you?"
I sighed as I sat down in my spot at the table after I had put the silverware in their respective places.
"No, not really." I finally said. "I guess I just assumed--" I smirked as I took a bite of my waffle. "We were close, when I was younger I mean."
He nodded as he took a sip of his mug of coffee.
"We still are."
"Yeah," I smiled as I stared into my brothers eyes. "We still are."
After all the years spent apart, I thought as we tuned into the news.
The news were talking about the Crown Princes. It really wasn't news to me, but for others. It was news, interesting news.
When we were just about finished with breakfast. The newswoman talked about Glenn more.
"It seems that the Crown Prince of Oriens will be planning a wedding." The newswoman began. "This may just be a rumor, but His Highness have been seen with his fiancé, Lady Elizabeth, for quite some time now. Word is that they've been betrothed for a while now..."
Great, I thought as I began to wash the dishes a bit before I put them in the dishwasher.
"Linda--"
"I'm fine," I pasted a smile on my face as I loaded the dishwasher. "Just fine."
"Okay." Leighton studied me for a while before he went to go for a swim.
God, I wasn't fine. I was beyond fine.
How could he do this? Put that kind of information out for everyone to know?
Did he even love me?
"I'm starting to believe that he didn't," I muttered as I slammed the dishwasher closed out of frustration.
Suddenly, I was regretting that "little" confession that I had given him in the secret garden.
I sat down at the kitchen table and just sat there as I looked at the ceiling.
Glenn's POV:
I furiously walked out of the dining room and toward my fathers office.
Damn him! I thought as I balled my hands into tight fists.
That news report had my father written all over it.
When I reached my fathers office I didn't even think about knocking. I was too pissed to have that kind of decency.
Luckily, he was alone.
"How could you?" I yelled as I stared my father down as he had tea.
Tea.
How can he be so calm about this? I thought as I looked at the flat screen. Especially watching that kind of news?
My father sighed. "What is it that I've upset you to the point where you can't even remember about manners?"
"Are you kidding me right now?" My eyes widened as I pointed at the television. "You told a news reporter about my betrothal with Elizabeth?!"
He chuckled half-heartedly as I looked into my eyes. "Glenn, that had to be done and you know it."
"It had to be done like that? What, why are you and Elizabeth planning a so-called wedding behind my back?"
"Glenn," My father warned as my voice kept on rising. "Why do you even care? You don't want anything to do with that kind of preparations anyway--"
"But to put it out in the public like th--"
"Why," He roared as he stood from his chair at his desk. "Is this really because of me putting your betrothal out to the public? Or does this have to do with that Linda girl."
"She's just not some girl." I said as I clenched and unclenched my jaw.
"Miss Long is just some girl, Glenn." He said as he stood in front of me then. "No son of mine will be associated with that kind of person."
I looked at my father incredulously.
"What kind of person do you think Linda is?"
He stuffed his hands into his dress pants pockets. "Before she got reunited with her brother and Prince Edward. She was an orphan who lived in countless of foster homes. Miss Long is tainted, Glenn, whether you don't see that or not. She will never be the right person to stand beside you."
"You're unbelievable." I scoffed. "Just because she lived a different life. That doesn't mean that she's not a noble. She's a noble by birth, but I guess that doesn't matter to you. It's because she hasn't lived in this world enough to be called a noble, right? So, what, she's not considered a noble because of that? She has no birth right as a noble anymore?"
"No," My father narrowed his eyes at me. "You will marry Elizabeth, Glenn. So stop thinking that you can just change my mind by having Elizabeth with you-- when you really want to be with Miss Long."
"That's because I want to, but you know what? I guess it doesn't matter because whoever I choose, personally, they won't matter to you. Any of my decisions, choices, won't matter to you."
"What are you doing here arguing with me then?"
I closed my eyes as I calmed myself.
"Unbelievable!" I shouted before I stormed out of his office.
Linda.
Author's Note:
Damn. Will Linda ever meet Glenn's father, the King of Oriens. Maybe not. Doesn't seem the King likes Linda, but why? Kind of suspicious to me. Lol.
Well, hope you like this chapter.
Until the next chapter, my lovelies!
