I never left Eden and the guy out of my sight and watched them enter the café across from our apartment building. After they went inside the establishment I waited by the entrance and hesitated.

What am I doing? Am I spying on Eden now? Who was the guy? Was he the guy whose voice I heard over the phone?

I was staring intently at Eden who had her back to the entrance and therefore to me too when I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Levi.

"Dude, what are you doing? Aren't you going in and join them?"

I shook my head to say no. I didn't want to intrude and appear nosy or presumptuous.

His face didn't reveal what he was thinking. I knew what was going on in his head. He had to think I was crazy for what I was doing. Spying on my girlfriend, not trusting her and letting her explain afterwards.

"Who is the guy?" Levi asked trying to appease me given the annoyed expression I had to have had on my face at his question.

"That's what I would like to know," I was still debating with myself whether or not to enter the café.

When the mystery guy stood up and went around the table to kneel down in front of Eden, I knew exactly who it was.

It was her Ex.

At that realization my blood began to boil. How dare the bastard even get closer to her? Out of instinct I went inside the café and sat at a table within hearing distance from Eden's but I made sure she couldn't see me as she had her back turned toward my direction.

Levi just silently followed me and sat across from me at the table I chose. My whole body was tense, heart racing, nose flaring and I was sure my eyes conveyed my fury. A look that could kill.

"So, you know the guy?" Levi was careful with his words, fully aware of my angry attitude.

I just gave him a short nod in affirmation.

"Care to tell me who he is?" he leaned over the table to get my attention as I was already trying to concentrate on listening in on Eden's conversation with her Ex.

"Psshht," I shushed him and I lifted my forefinger over my lips to shut him up. He stopped talking after I motioned for him to listen when I pointed at my right ear.

Her Ex was apologizing, begging, basically doing all the things Amanda had done too when I was at her place.

Levi's eye brows went up when he realized who Eden was talking to. I could tell that he too wasn't pleased with the knowledge.

Vic's voice was loud enough for the customers around their table to hear every word he was saying. He didn't care at all that the people could listen to their conversation, or to his begging words, to be precise.

Was the guy hoping that Eden would be more forgiving if there were witnesses around them while he was begging her to forgive him? Did he really believe his chances would be better if he got sympathy points from his audience?

I couldn't believe how delusional the guy was. To even think or hope that Eden would consider going back to him, was such a ludicrous notion to me. I just marveled at his brazenness, stupidity and lack of decency.

I looked back at Levi who had just finished talking to the waitress who seemed to have taken our order. He ordered something for the both of us. Levi just sat across from me, observing me; my facial expression and my fists that were balled into fists. He could tell just by looking at me how much effort it took me to sit still and not do anything stupid.
