Mukti scowled as she annoyingly questioned him "Why are you being so stubborn about all these arrangements Manik and not only that you are actually being so insistent to do everything by yourself..seriously Manik..what the hell is going on."
However, her question only made him rolled his eyes in boredom "You have asked me this question zillion times and I have repeated the same thing zillion times Mukti Madam. Nothing is wrong. I am just doing fulfilling my promise that I will take care of everything so why are you all making it such a big issue."
His words only annoyed her more making her snap at him "Yes and I have two horns on my head. Seriously Manik do you really think that you can give me this crap and I will believe it. If you truly believe that so, in that case, you need to rethink again. I am asking you this last time. Tell us honestly what's cooking inside your head"
Her words only made him even more stubborn and he replied sternly. "Since
you claim to know me so much in that case you only answer this question because no matter what I say you won't believe a word so what's the use of anything that I say. You will believe what you want to believe so go ahead be my guest and think whatever you want to."Manik was about to walk out of the room but his feet stopped at the threshold as he heard Mukti's words that were enough to shook him to the core.
"This has something to do with your workshop in Mangalore..right.."
Her words only made Manik to mentally
kick himself for being so reckless about the whole situation and too in front of Mukti. He should have remembered this that Mukti is his female version. She knows him way too well and no wonder she hit the bull's eye instantly by connecting all the points that are invisible for the rest of the world.
But of course, he couldn't let anyone see his panic state so putting up the most poker face he can manage he replied casually. "What about the Mangalore Trip..kindly enlighten me, Miss.Mukti..as I am not getting your point."
"If that's what you want." Mukti began to point out all the weak spots that almost made Manik Malhotra run for the hills.
"Manik Malhotra--since the day you have returned from that workshop you have been acting so weirdly."
"In fact, you are simply not that Manik who was forcefully sent to this workshop.."
"You broke up with Alia.."
"You stood up for other students.."
"..and now you are actually doing your best to fulfil Nyonika's orders.."
"..and all this had been happening pretty much the time you have come back from Mangalore.."
"..oh god..how didn't we see this.."
She looked up at Manik and said: "Manik what exactly happened with you in that workshop.."
"..did something happen to you.."
"..or rather.."
"Someone.."
Her words were so on the spot that it was more than enough to scare the living daylight out of him.
However he can't let her or in fact, anyone, in as of now as this wasn't the right time so that's why he chose to handle this entire situation cautiously.
"Mukti..what's the matter with you."Manik rolled his eyes in fake annoyance. "Are you high or something."
"Shut up Manik.." she snapped at him once again. "Don't try to act smart. I know you are trying to divert my attention but unfortunately, that's not going to happen."Mukti replied in her no-nonsense attitude. " Manik Malhotra it will better for you if you stop wasting time and speak out the truth. "
"I can't believe that out of all the people it's you to whom I have to give an explanation. Don't you believe me at all? You really think I will hide anything from you..my best friend -cum- alter ego." he tried emotionally blackmailing her. "
Fortunately for him, his plan worked as Mukti's facial expressions changed instantly. "Manik I did mean that..you are misinterpreting everything.."
"Am I..then why aren't you believing me..say na?"Manik asked faking a hurtful expression on his face.
"I am sorry Manik.."guilt was written all over her face. "..I didn't mean to offend you...I guess you are right...I am overthinking..too much of thought process I guess."
"Actually we are used to your Monster side from our childhood but whatever you are doing these days is so righteous that sometimes it gets difficult to believe that whether it's actually you or someone else."
Manik snorted "Are you complimenting me..or is this your lowest level of sarcasm.."
"Well I meant it as a compliment but whether you take it as a comment or a compliment that's completely your call.." she winked making him smile.
"You are impossible Mukti.." he shook his head in amusement.
"So are you Mr.Malhotra.." she smiled which made him smile too. "Nautanki hai tu puri Mukti..simply impossible.." saying this he pulled her into a tight embrace.
"Tell me something new," Mukti replied as she broke the hug. "Anyways I need to go now as I need to compile the list of music that will be played in between breaks of Fusion Concert."
"Fine..off you go madam."Manik pulled her cheeks which earned him two tight slaps on his shoulders from Mukti. "Bye" saying this with a smile etched on his face she walked out of the room.
Manik sighed heavily and closing his eyes he sunk into the ground as his knees gave in."God Manik..you were almost caught tonight.."
"What if Mukti got a hint as to what was exactly going on..."
"Man..how can I be so careless.."
"Now I have to be extra cautious all the time as one wrong move and everything will be over.."
"Nandini.." he smiled as he took her name.
"What have you done to me Nandini.."
"..that now I have to even lie to my friends.."
"But not anymore.."
"..because soon they all will know everything as I will tell them everything about.."
"..YOU..."
"..about US"
"And I am sure once they will hear everything they will themselves realise it then.."
"..that you belong to me.."
"..only me..."
