Third Person POV (Lams)
Alex moved the computer mouse around, attempting to rewind the footage they had been granted access to. He squinted and rewatched the same clip for five minutes before John spoke up from behind him.
"What's up, Lex?"
"Take a look at this. Does anything look off to you?" Alexander replied. Laurens stared at the small screen as Alex replayed the clip.
"It just looks like...........nothing. It looks completely normal actually," John said once he finished watching the clip.
"Look in the top right corner. Do you see how it tells you that this clip of the elevator door panel was recorded at 5:45 pm?" Alex said.
"Uhhhhhh........yeah. Yup I see it now," John stammered.
"Now watch what happens to the time," Alex replied as he played the clip. John watched with puzzlement as the time went from 5:45 pm to 5:55 pm in a matter of seconds.
"What the hell?" John mumbled.
"This means that someone either snuck in here and cut the clip in between those two different times or someone found out how to turn the camera off. Either way, this was done intentionally," Alex stated.
"So there would be no proof of someone messing with the elevator. That would make sense," John added. "You're IQ's bigger than your height," John giggled while kissing Alex's forehead. "Like, by a lot." Alex just rolled his eyes and chuckled.
"Love you too, John."
Third Person POV (Back at the Apartment)
"Woah. Mar, you don't look too good. When was the last time you slept?" Eliza asked while making breakfast. It was a Saturday morning, so nobody really had anywhere to be.
"Yeah, 'Liza's right. What's up?" Angelica asked from a bar stool on the other side of the island.
"What's up?! What's up?! Your sister's in the freaking hospital in a coma because someone tried to kill her and your asking me what's up?!" Maria snapped angrily. Both sisters were taken aback by Maria's outburst and went still. Maria took a deep breath and sighed.
"Look, I'm sorry. I'm just a bit on edge is all," Maria added as she plopped down onto a stool across from Angelica. "It doesn't help that I haven't slept for a week," Maria mumbled under her breath.
"What was that?" Eliza hummed as she continued to make breakfast.
"Oh, um, I was just asking if you could please make me a cup of your special tea," Maria answered quickly, not wanting the sisters to know the truth behind her restlessness.
"Of course! As soon as I finish scrambling these eggs," Eliza said cheerfully.
"Thanks," Maria quipped. Eliza just smiled.
"How?" Maria asked all of a sudden.
"How what?" Angelica replied.
"How are you guys so calm while I'm falling apart at the seams?" Angelica and Eliza looked at each other before Angelica finally answered.
"We.........try not to dwell on the subject. We distract ourselves."
"That's why I've been cooking and baking non stop," Eliza added. "It puts my mind at ease." Maria then notices dozens of freshly baked muffins sitting on the counter.
