Maria POV

"I came for a surprise visit just to find you all hung over," Sammy huffed as he cleaned up the barf bucket that sat beside a passed out Angelica.

"Sorry Sammy. I would've tried harder to get them all to stop if I had known you were going to come," I answered. Sammy had showed up that morning, catching us all off guard. When I had asked him why he came, he had just said that he wanted to check and see how I was holding up. When I told him that he didn't have to do that, he waved me off and said, "Don't worry about it."

"Do you even remember anything from last night?" he asked, clearly feeling exasperated.

"Somewhat. I mean, I remember that Eliza dragged me into a game of truth or dare. Oh, and I remeber kissing Peggy!"

"Of course you do," he chuckled while he rolled his eyes. I laughed with him, still feeling a bit tipsy. Slowly, I sat up from my position on the couch and crossed my legs underneath me.

"Are you a kindergartener now?" Sammy asked, staring intently at the stain in Angelica's bucket.

"Are you sure there isn't a different reason that you came to New York, Sammy?" I inquired, completely disregarding the question he just asked.

"Like I said. I came to check up on you." I wasn't buying into this, so I slowly leaned forward until our faces were only an inch apart.

"Are you sure that's the only reason? Come on, Sammy. I've been able to see through you since we were little kids. Just tell me," I replied. He looked deep into my eyes before he answered.

"Your breath smells like alcohol and vomit." Playfully, I pushed him away and put on my best pouty face. He groaned, and I automatically knew that I had won. Ever since the day we met, he hasn't been able to resist my pouty face.

"I'll tell you once everyone's awake," he finally said, waving his hand out and gesturing to all of my passed out friends.

"Fine," I whined. Suddenly, I noticed something was off. "Hey, do you know where the kids are?" Suddenly, I heard what sounded like a herd of elephants come pounding down the stairs.

"Speak of the devils, they will appear," Sammy laughed.

"Auntie Maria! You're finally awake!" Philip cheered, a flustered Ella gripping tightly to his arm.

"Peux-tu me montrer comment tresser les cheveux de ma poupée?" Ella squeaked. Before I could pull out my phone and use google translate to try and understand what she was saying, Seabury said, "She wants to know if you can teach her how to braid so she can braid her doll's hair."

"I didn't know you spoke French," I commented, a friendly smile spreading across my face.

"My mom made me learn the language when I was little so that when I visited my cousins in France I would be able to talk to them," Sammy shrugged. He then turned to Ella and answered the child's question for me.

"Elle ne se sent pas bien maintenant, ma chérie. Elle t'apprendra plus tard. D'accord?" The little girl nodded before running off.

"Bye!" Philip said as he chased after her. I chuckled quietly, watching the two small children disappear around a corner.

"Okay, something is not right about you, Seabury. I feel like there's something you're not telling us," Angelica said, squinting suspiciously at the red head beside her. It had taken three hours, but everyone was finally awake and almost over their hangovers. Currently, everyone was gathered in the kitchen and shoveling pancakes that Samuel made into their mouthes.

"That's what I said!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands into the air.

"Oh you did not say that," Sammy countered.

"Well, it's what I meant." I crossed my arms and stared at him. Finally, Sammy threw his hands up in defeat.

"Fine! I give up! You're right! There's a different reason for my visit!"

"I knew it," Angelica said, pointing her finger at him. "Fess up, Seabury."

"I came here to invite you all to...," Samuel started to say before trailing off.

"What!!!" I exclaimed, tugging on his arm.

"My wedding." The room went dead silent before erupting with noise.

"FINA-FUCKING-LLY! I THOUGHT YOU AND LEE MIGHT NEVER TIE THE KNOT!" Peggy screamed while barreling into the room.

"Peggy!" Eliza scolded. "The kids are in the other room." Peggy cocked her head to the side in confusion.

"It's just Philip. Not 'kids'," Peggy explained. Everyone turned to stare at Peggy in horror.

"Ella?" Laf squeaked, unable to manage any other words.

"Ella was in there playing with Philip a minute ago," Alexander said, speaking for Laf. They all ran into the living room to see Philip peering out the door, his face lined with worry. Before anyone could say anything else, they heard a scream come from outside.
