Brantley's POV
I finished rolling the edges of my jeans up then stood back up straight with a gasp. I had gone to stick our shoes inside when we had gotten back from dinner a few minutes ago. I bit my lip as I slid my phone out of my pocket to snap a picture of the vision in front of me. Allie was standing at the edge of the water with her filmy black halter dress floating around her as the bright moon rose of the water. She'd left her in hair in waves that blew gently in the breeze. Damn, she took my breath away. I wasn't as good as her about capturing a moment, but I had to try. I don't think I had ever seen her look more beautiful.
She turned her head to look back at me as I put the phone away and made my way over to her. I wrapped my arms around Allie pulling her into my chest. She settled back against me like it was second nature resting her head on my shoulder. I hadn't felt this content in years and I knew all I had been missing was her. We had walked down to the nearby resort to eat dinner out on one of their balconies. I had sat back laughing as Allie filled me in on some of the shoots she had done over the years. I had taken a peek at her website earlier while I was waiting on her to finish getting dressed. Damn, some of the shots she had were amazing. I was so damn proud of her.
"Do we have to go back?" Allie asked quietly with a sigh making me chuckle as I buried my face in the crook of her neck. "I mean no one would miss us if we just stayed right?"
"Sure baby girl," I said grinning against her soft skin. "I mean it wouldn't give PJ a heart attack at all. He was already worried you would drown me at sea when I told him where I was going. That and you know Mike hates to have his schedule fucked with."
"Remember the time you were late for a CMT interview because we couldn't keep our hands off each other," Allie said with a giggle threading her fingers with mine. "He was five different shades of purple when we came stumbling into the studio fixing our clothes. Your damn hat was on sideways."
"And your hair," I said with dark chuckle. "Oh, baby girl. You made even Katie Cook blush with your freshly fucked do before you fixed it back in a ponytail."
"Well," Allie said turning her head to peer up at me. "Someone kept pulling it if I remember right and got their rings hung in it."
"I do recall there were no complaints at the time," I murmured nosing her hair out of the way and nipping the curve of her neck. "If I remember right your exact words were "mmmm.... B...har...."
Allie spun around in my arms covering my mouth with a soft hand glaring at me as I grinned at her.
"Ok big guy," she said rolling her eyes. "Let's can the discussion of walking down our sexual memory lane okay. We never, ever had a problem in that department. And since we agree to take this slow, we keep this up and both of us are gonna need to take a dip in the water to cool off."
"Umm...." I grumbled shaking my head as she dropped her hand and wrapped her arms around my neck smirking up at me. "You go right ahead Allie Cat. If you are feeling hot, then by all means strip out of that dress and give me a show. But I am NOT, stepping a toe in that damn water. Fucking sharks everywhere."
"Oh my god Brantley Keith!" Allie exclaimed cracking up. "Grow up. You are not gonna get eaten. You are thirty-three! Time to let some of those fears go honey."
"I married you so I let the commitment one go," I growled down at her as she laughed in my arms. Damn minx. "I keep a gun handy, so I can let the snake one go at times as long as I can see them. But fuck no am I getting in that water where I could get eaten!"
"Chicken shit," Allie said with a giggle giving me a knowing look. I closed my eyes and bit my lip. She knew that was one thing I couldn't stand to be called.
