Brantley's POV
As I turned off the interstate getting close to the house, Allie grew quiet on me. I knew what was going through her mind and I let her be to work it out on her own. I knew she had been back to see Mom and Liz but wasn't quite the same as going to the house. I remember the night we had picked the house spot and couldn't help but grin a little. I'd been neck deep in a bottle of whiskey with Allie not too far behind me from taking shots with Ben and I'd pointed at some of the land we had been looking at. Randomly picked and said put the sum bitch right there. Jesse had looked at the paper then cracked up reminding me that Amber's mom lived right up the road.
My wife had gotten the most evil grin I had ever seen on her lips that was not aimed at Ben and said even better. We'd left Nashville this morning and Allie had spent most the drive with her bare feet propped on the dash or in my lap editing photos on her laptop. I turned down the road headed to the house and she looked up closing her computer quietly before sliding it in the bag at her feet. She busied herself with slipping her flip flops back on as I hit the button to open the gates after turning in the drive. I parked the truck then gave her a small smile before climbing out to walk around and open her door.
Allie sat there for a moment looking at me as I leaned against the frame trying to read her expression. Whatever she was thinking she locked it down leaning over to kiss me gently then patted my chest.
"I'm fine B," she said quietly as I stepped back for her to climb out. Allie ducked under my arm then stopped at the front of the truck looking around. I eased behind her wrapping my arms around her waist kissing the side of her neck. She let out a sigh then elbowed back in to my stomach. "I see you finally put up the damn front porch swing I only begged for two years for."
"Well no baby," I said with a chuckle as she growled at me. "Fine.... I finally got around to it okay."
"What I figured," she grumbled then let out a shriek jerking out of my arms and running towards the garage. I took off after her and stood there with my hands on my hips, jaw hanging wide open as Allie ran her hands gently down the side of my car grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't help the fact my pants got a little tight at what she said next.
"Oh sweetheart," Allie purred appreciatively placing her hand on the door handle of the Cougar. "I sure have missed you."
"Don't even think you are charming me out of the keys Allie Grace," I said shaking my head. She spun around glaring at me.
"And why the hell not?" she said crossing her arms and pouting. "I only got one ticket."
"Baby," I said with a laugh as she sauntered over to me with her lip poked out. "Try five."
"Two of them weren't my fault," she grumbled brushing past me to get her stuff out of the truck. "You and Coop kept telling me to hurry up so well, I hurried up. Then BAM, blue lights in the rear view."
I barked out a laugh shrugging my shoulders as I followed her to grab our bags out of the backseat as she got her computer stuff. Halfway to the front door, I noticed Allie pause looking towards the corner of the house in the front yard. Oh, fuck me. I had forgot about that. I winced knowing what was coming next.
"B....." Allie said turning to look at me. "What happened to my wishing well? Mama steal it back to put in her yard. Know she always loved the flowers in it."
"Ummm....." I said digging my keys out of my pocket to unlock the door trying to ignore the question. How to answer this one.
"Brantley," Allie growled. "You better get to talking. What did your dumbass do? I can tell by the look on your face you did something."
