Allie's POV

I glanced down at my watch on my wrist with a sigh knowing I needed to get a move on with getting my stuff packed up. I had a flight to catch before long for my next assignment. I winced as I fixed my messy bun as I had a thought. Crap! Brantley had flown all this way to see me and I was having to leave out. I wished that he had given me a little more warning so I could have told him but on the other hand I was thankful for the surprise.

But staying busy like this was how I had coped with the divorce and just kept up the pace since. Daddy was yelling at me the other night on the phone because of our schedules I had seen him once since Christmas. I was so focused on packing up my lenses that when an arm draped around my shoulders I jumped.

"Well since it looks like you are almost done sweetheart," Carter said giving me a charming smile as I turned my head. "What do you say we go grab a drink and some dinner before we roll out."

"Sorry Carter," I said shrugging my shoulder trying to get him to drop his arm. "I can't. I appreciate the offer, but I can't. I have plans."

"That's fine darlin," he said giving me a bright smile. "I don't mind tagging along with whatever you and Caroline have planned. She was saying earlier how much she missed you."

"Ummm....."I drawled turning around trying to step away from Carter but he kept his hand on my arm. I bit my lip as I saw Brantley walking up behind him narrowing his eyes with Luke and Caroline in tow. I was trying to not laugh. "It's not Caroline. And well....I'm not exactly single." Shit, I thought pushing my hair out of my eyes as Carter nodded his head in understanding.

"It's ok," Carter said rubbing my arm. I bit the inside of my cheek knowing I was about to hear a growl. Caroline had her head leaned against Luke's arm to smother a laugh. "Cole told me you and Jake spilt up."

"Uhhh....." I said shaking my head taking a step back. "It's not Jake that I am worried about."

"Well who then?" Carter said raising his eyebrows in question. I heard Brantley clear his throat.

"Ready to go Allie Cat?" he asked pointedly as Carter's eyes grew wide and he turned his head slightly, but not dropping his hand.

"Ummm hey BG," Carter said with a quick grin.

"You've got two seconds Carter to remove that arm from her before I remove it," Brantley grumbled raising an eyebrow at me. I shrugged back at him like, I tried to tell him. "And I won't be gentle."

"Why BG?" Carter asked puzzled. I saw Caroline roll her eyes as Luke snickered. "I mean, no disrespect man, but she's your ex-wife. Didn't think there was a claim there anymore other than she's your tour photographer."

"Well you see," Brantley said with an evil smirk reaching over to grip Carter's wrist lifting it off my arm. I ducked under it and grabbed Brantley's arm to keep him in check. "Kind of working on making the whole ex thing null and void if you get what I mean."

"Allie?" Carter asked me turning to look at me. I shrugged my shoulders giving him a smile. I jumped a little when I felt a big hand slide into the back pocket of my jeans. Damn territorial ass.

"I tried to tell you Mike," I explained. "I really did."

"Gotcha," he said then nodded at Brantley. "Meant no disrespect man."

"No worries brother," Brantley said with a laugh. I stepped out of his arms to finish packing my stuff up as Carter nailed Luke in the shoulder making Caroline laugh.

"Thanks a lot man!" he groaned.
"Awww did we strike out Mike," Caroline drawled out earning her a middle finger. I shook my head and zipped up my two camera bags. Those two had bickered like brother and sister for as long as I had known them.
