Allie's POV
I stared down at the glittering pink diamond ring on my finger in shock. I know that my mouth was literally hanging open. I tugged the sheet up tucking it under my arms as I sat there not even knowing what to say. I wasn't stupid, I knew exactly what the ring was. My heart felt like it was about to pound out of my chest. I suppose this was better than him having a fifth of JD in one hand and a ring in the other like he did the first time. This had come out of nowhere to say the least. I loved Brantley with all my heart and soul, but marriage again, I just wasn't so sure of that. I couldn't survive it not working again. I kept staring at my hand like the beautiful ring was going to disappear when I felt him shift behind me wrapping his arms around me pulling me back against him. He pressed a soft kiss to my shoulder then settled his chin into the curve of my neck.
"Take a deep breath Allie Cat," he murmured with an amused chuckle. "It's not a ticking time bomb. Won't blow up your hand."
"Shut up," I muttered before shivering as he pushed my hair out of the way to reach my neck with his lips. I gnawed on my bottom lip in thought. "B...um....shit..."
"Say yes," he whispered in my ear softly then turned my head to look at him. I felt my eyes cloud up with tears at the tender look on his face. "I love you Allison Grace. I never stopped, and I never will. I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side. I want to finish building the life we had started and chase you around the house when we are seventy making our grandkids laugh at us. Marry me, again?
"I'm scared," I confessed as tears slipped down my cheeks. Brantley laced his fingers with mine holding me tighter. "I can't lose you again."
"Baby," he whispered laying his forehead against mine as a quiet sob slipped past my lips. "I'm not going anywhere. I know what it means to not have you in my life and Allie, that wasn't living. I was just passing time. I don't want to just pass anymore time. I want it all, but I can't finish giving you forever until you say yes."
"Dammit," I muttered shaking my head slightly as I sighed. "You pull out words like that and make it impossible to tell you no you know that right?"
"That your smart ass way of saying yes," Brantley mutters rolling his eyes as a smile twitched at his full lips. I pulled my head back a little to look at him. I could see the hope shining in his green eyes but I saw more there as well. I knew I saw my future. I saw home.
"Yes," I whispered leaning in to brush my lips against his. "A thousand times yes. But mark my words, you get too busy for me again mister, I will track you down."
"Baby girl," he chuckled pushing me back against the sheets to hover over me. "I will let you."
5 months later............
I braced my elbows on the railing of the ship taking a deep breath of ocean air. I watched the waves roll on the open water as the breeze teased the hem of the blue sundress I was wearing. I glanced down at the sparkling ring on my finger and grinned. Much to B's dismay I still wouldn't set a date. I had argued that when did either of us have time. PJ had gotten between us glaring over it the other day before we left to come down to Miami. He'd been so busy with The Ones That Like Me Tour, interviews, writing songs, and sponsorship obligations he could barely breathe some days. But the Kick It in The Ship Cruise would wrap his year up and I would be lucky to get him out of a deer stand for the next couple of months.
Hmm.... I pondered to myself as I heard footsteps approaching me followed by a round of arguing. That could be an idea. Just put something together and have it at the lodge at the farm. I looked back over my shoulder to see B, Mike, and the band standing there arguing amongst themselves. I had told Mike he'd lost his ever loving mind over pitching this cruise idea. One, the main man himself was terrified of sharks and now you had him out in the middle of the ocean, and two, he put the band in charge of daily activities.
