Ellie
I stared at my phone, getting frustrated that Harry wasn't texting me. We were supposed to go trampolining but he wasn't answering me and I was thinking about just going straight I his house.
I waited ten more minutes before I grabbed my keys and wallet and leaving the house. I started the car quickly and pulled out of the driveway, locking the gate behind me.
The ride to Harry's was short and I was confused to see an unfamiliar car in his driveway. I knew Harry would never cheat on me but for some reason, the thought was engulfing my mind.
I hesitated before getting out of my car and knocking on the door. I heard music coming from inside and then footsteps coming towards the door.
When Harry opened the door, to say I was shocked was an understatement.
Harry's eyes were bloodshot and half closed and he wasn't wearing a shirt.
"Harry? What are you doing," I tried to push my way in, even though the smell told me what he was doing from a mile away.
"Ellie," he held me with one arm while I tried to get past him. "Ellie, I'm sorry - I, I forgot we had plans." I was still in complete shock that he had been smoking weed again. I shook my head and stepped back.
"Why are you doing this again?" Was all I could say for a second. "Who's here?" I pushed past him and walked in his living room to see two unfamiliar faces.
The people didn't even realize I had stepped in the room and before I could say anything Harry was pulling me back.
"Harry, get your hands off me." I pushed him off and stomped back to the door. "I can't be-" I began but Harry cut me off.
"Baby," his voice was soft and he kept touching my arm, "I don't know why I-I, Matt and Luke came over and brought their stuff and I haven't done it in forever, I'm sorry." He carefully grabbed my cheeks.
"You can't just keep saying sorry." I spit at him. "Call me when you're ready." I opened his door and slammed it loud enough for the men in the living room to here. I heard it open and even though I was livid my stomach still swirled when his hands touched my bare waist.
"Ellie, stop, I love you." He kissed my temple sloppily.
"Stop Harry!" I turned to fully face him. "I don't understand. I just poured my heart out to you and, and, and you just go and roll up a blunt? Did that mean nothing to you?" Tears fell down my cheeks but I wiped them away quickly.
"Ellie, it meant everything to me. I just haven't smoked in a long time and when they pulled it out I tried to say no but I just couldn't." I had started to walk backwards towards my car while he was talking but he didn't seem to notice.
"Just call me when you're sober and ready to talk." I opened the door and got in, slamming it behind me. Harry stood there for a while before turning and walking back into his house.
Before I even left his driveway I saw his friends stumble out of the house and Harry was close behind them, shutting the door.
I went 50 over the speed limit the whole way home and as soon as I got there I went upstairs and shut my door, sliding down it with my head in my hands.
Harry
I pulled my hair and groaned.
"Fuck!" I threw the book that was on my night table and it fell to the floor.
I knew I should have never smoked with the guys and I knew me and Ellie had plans, it just slipped my mind. I fucked up big time and it was at the worst timing.
Ellie basically just told me her life story and I repay her by getting high? I'm a dick.
It had been a few hours since she came over so I decided to go to her house. I grabbed my keys and was quick to leave.
••
As soon as she opened the door I knew there was going to be a fight. Ellie was quick to try and shut it but I caught it with my hand.
"Come on babe, don't be like that." I said pushing it open and walking in.
"Harry, get out." She pointed to the door.
"Ellie. No." I mocked, only to aggravate her.
"I don't want to see you Harry! Just go." She pushed me and I stumbled back, not expecting it.
"I'm not leaving, so you can go cool your ass down and relax." I knew I was making her angry but in a way, I couldn't help myself.
"Relax? Aha real nice one Harry! Maybe I can relax by rolling up a joint, what do you think? Wanna join?" She laughed but I could see the tears welling up in her eyes.
"Ellie, it's my life! What do you care? It has nothing to do with you!" I yelled but as soon as the words left my mouth I realized what I had said. She froze and silent tears ran down her face.
"Fuck you Harry." She mumbled and I could
see the anger through her tears."El, I didn't mean it like that baby. You are my life and you know that, come on." I tried to grab her waist but she backed away quickly.
"If I have nothing to do with your life, we might as well just break up," she wiped her cheeks and I felt my heart break. Everything started moving in slow motion and my eyes stung with tears.
"We aren't breaking up. Ellie, I'm not losing you over this. I love you." I said, mostly thinking out loud.
"Harry please, please go." She almost begged me to leave but I couldn't.
Tears had started to fall from my eyes and I walked over to her.
"Please don't make me, I can't do this without you." My body started to go numb when she backed away and shook her head.
"Maybe we'll figure it out, we just need time apart to think." She whispered, finally looking up at me. I reached my hand up without thinking and wiped her tears, kissing her forehead after.
"We're sorting this out Eliana, I'm not leaving." I raised my voice slightly from anger. She shook her head again and pushed her hair back.
"Just stop! Harry, go. You've already told me I have nothing to do with your life, I don't want to hear what else you have to say." I wanted to punch something and scream as the words left her mouth.
"You know god damn well I didn't mean it like that, grow up. Ellie, I didn't come into this relationship just to walk out of it this fast." She rolled her eyes and scoffed.
"Just give it a night Harry," she said, pushing me towards the door. "You can come over tomorrow and we'll work it out, hopefully." I gave up and pushed her hand off of me.
"See you tomorrow, I love you." I told her, fully meaning it.
"I love you too, Harry." She shut the door and I heard her lock it.
Ellie
I rested my head against the door for a minute before I heard my dads footsteps.
"Give him a chance, Ellie." He rubbed my back and I sighed.
"He was rude." I pointed out, mostly just being stubborn.
"So were you, so get over it. When he comes back tomorrow, work it out, maturely. You're an adult now, start planning your future." My dad reminded me before walking away.
