Harry
so I may have done something
you should come over
My heart raced as I read the text from Ellie over and over again.
After shutting the car door I walked up her steps but before I could even put my hand on the handle she opened it only a little bit, making me step back.
"Hi," she whispered, a smile prominent on her face.
"Hi," I put my hand on the door to push it open and she bit her lip holding it closed. "Ellie, what did you do? Is someone in there?" I snapped and she shushed me, rolling her eyes.
"Harry," she spoke softly and my breathing slowed. I ran my head through my hair and sighed, "I did a thing," she dragged out her words.
"Ellie, open this damn door now, I swear to go-" she pulled the door open and I pushed inside, looking side to side before something caught my eye.
"You did not." I crouched down and the small ball of fur moved towards me.
"I did," she sat down and smiled, "I was at the shelter with Selena and saw him and I couldn't leave him, he's just so little." I picked him up and laughed softly, all my worries from earlier washing away.
"What's his name?" I pulled him into my chest and Ellie giggled.
"Bear." I glanced over at her and her eyes lit up as she stared at him, scratching behind his ears. "He's a golden retriever husky so he's gonna get really big, but I'm going to take him to puppy class and work and, oh," she stopped and I smiled at her, "I just love him."
"What did your dad say?" I put him down and stood up, Ellie standing beside me and calling him down the hall.
"My dad doesn't exactly know," she looked at me, a hopeful look on her face. "But, he's already been to the vet and gotten his shots!" She tried to back herself up and I just stared at her blankly.
"Oh Ellie, what did you get yourself into," I wrapped my arms around her, laughing as she pouted.
"He'll love him! I hope," she grinned and I kissed her. Ellie crouched down and picked Bear up, kissing his nose and laughing when he licked her with his little tongue.
Her moment was interrupted when she heard the front door open and her eyes went wide.
I wiped the corners of my mouth and sat down the the barstool, sending her the biggest smile I could.
"Hi, sweetheart, hi Harry," Ron yelled from down the hall and I said hi back, waiting for him to turn the corner.
"Ellie, today was great at the office, we-" I watched as Ellie smiled nervously at him, holding the small puppy in her arms.
"Dad, meet Bear." She held him up and Ron froze, switching eyes between Ellie and the dog.
"What the hell, Eliana," his voice was hard and leaned back, crossing my arms. "Did you know about this?" Ron looked to me and I shook my head, shrugging.
"Dad, he was in the shelter, I couldn't leave him." She whined and I smiled as Ron walked over took the puppy from her, rubbing his head shortly before holding him up like Simba in Lion King.
"Well, he is cute." Ellie squealed and hugged her dad. "Breed?" He put him down and picked up a small toy, throwing it across the room.
"Golden retriever husky, so he'll get big but I promise I'll take good care of him," Ellie started but Ron assured her he would help.
