"No, we need to talk" I said. "No we don't, it's over and that's all I have to say" She said. "I'm not just leaving you like this" I said. "Yes you are" She said. I looked at her just one last time hoping she would say something, but she didn't. I left and went back home, I thought our first time would be romantic, I didn't think we would break up the next day. Days and days passed by and I stayed in my room, crying, writing songs, sad songs.
There was a knock on my door and then they walked in. "Shawn, get up" I heard Emma say. "What?" I said. "Get up! You look like a mess" she said. "Go away" I said as I pulled my duvet back over me. "Shawn, I know you and Violet broke up but tell me, how are you honestly truly thinking?" She asked as she sat down on my bed. I took a deep breath and sat up and looked at her, she looked like she actually wants to know how my feeling.
"You know when you're drowning you don't actually inhale until right before you black out, the instinct to not let any water in is so strong that you won't open your mouth until you feel like your head's exploding, then when you finally do let it in, that's when it stops hurting" I said as a tear fell down my cheek. "I'm fine" I added. "Yeah aside from the not sleeping, that constant overwhelming crushing fear that something terrible is about to happen you know if feels like a panic attack, like I can't breathe" I said. "Like you're drowning?" Emma said. I nodded, "yeah" I said. "So if you're drowning, and you're trying to keep your mouth closed until that final moment, what if you chose not to open your mouth?" She said as she placed her hand on my cold hand. "To not let the water in" she added. "You do Anyway, it's a reflex" I said. "But, if you hold off until that reflex kicks in, you have more time, right?" She said. "More time for what?" I asked. "To Get her back" she said. "She made it clear that she doesn't want me" I said. "You know I remember when I first saw Violet" I said. "We were only 6 but I remember" I said and I took a deep breath. "She had a Disney princess dress on, it was snow white's and she had a small crown on and her hair was up in a pony tail and she looked beautiful" I said. "Absolutely stunning and I knew from that day that I was going to call her my girlfriend one day, and I was going to hold her close and be there for her and never let her down, but I've done that, I've let her down" I said. "Maybe I don't want more time, I just want time to stop" I said.
