Chapter 16 - The Hole

(Maddie's Pov)

It's wednesday.

We're here down the ground, gardening.

We still haven't change classes, we have to wait until next monday before we could go to our own section, base on our course.

"What's digging a deep hole has to do with gardening?" Mitch said,

We were standing in front of a deep hole.

"I think it's not part of our activity." Penny then answered.

After a few hours later.

The sun is getting hotter!

Us girls and Carl are the only one's under the sun.

While these idiots are enjoying themselves,

They're just watching us,

"Boys! If you have no intention to cooperate then keep relaxing." Sir Kenton said,

"That's what I like to hear." Luke said, and he leaned down to his chair.

"You could go now." Sir Kenton said,

"Where," the boys asked,

"It's up to you. You could relax at the detention room, or in the principal's office, or in the court where you have to do 50 push ups under the sun."

They stood up, and picked up the tools those were lying on the floor.

"For those I don't see holding a tool shall be
in detention." Sir Kenton said.

James has nothing to grab,

He went towards me.

He grab the shovel I was holding. I pulled it,
"Get your own shovel, jerk. I was using this." I said,

"You really don't know anything about me, do you?" He said, tightening his hold on the shovel.

"When I want something, I get it." He added

"You don't know me either, when I fight with someone. I always win!" I answered,

He pulled it hard enough for us to fall into that deep, deep hole.

Good thing I landed on him, he totally broke my fall.

"Maddie!" Mitch said, and then everyone surrounded the hole.

"This is all your fault." I shouted at him.

"My fault?" He laughed after. "If you haven't make a fuss about giving it to me, then we'll be safe."

"Hold on, we'll get you a ladder." Mitch said from above.

An hour later

"Ugh! There's no use, we found no ladders. None!" Penny just went back from the school with the other to find us a ladder.

"You guys have no choice but to boost each other up." Sir Kenton said.

"Ugh great." I said sarcastically.

I looked at James,

I thought he would kneel down, so that I could reach the top, but instead.

"Get down," he said,

"What?" I asked him,

I pointed at myself,

"I said get down." He said,

"Why would I-"

"You wanna get out of here or not?" He asked,

I really want to get out, so I just go with it.

I kneeled down, he tried to stand on my back, but it failed.

"Ow! My back," I sat down for a while,

He sighed, his hands on his hips.

"You're so good at doing what boys can do. Now I asked you a simple thing, and that is what you can't do?" He's pretty disappointed.

"Snake," I said,

"Snake? Seriously, I'm dead serious about this, I wanna get out of here." He was damn serious, when he told me that.

"No!"

I yelled,

"A snake!" I yelled, pointing at a snake on his shoulder.

He shouted, hitting the tiny snake off of his shoulder.

It fell on me.

I started shouting, hitting it with a stick over and over again.

Oh my gosh! Did I just killed it?!!!!

An hour later

"Guys, come one. You've been down there for like,  three hours now." Mitch said,

James sighed, his hands on his pockets.

"Come on,"

That made my eyebrows raised,

"Huh?"

"I'll lift you." He said,

Finally!!!

He lift me up,

I stretched my arm to reach the top.

"You got it yet?" He said, with he's voice like he can't lift me any higher.

"No," I said, "Lift me higher."

He took me higher,

"Now?" He's having a hard time carrying me.

"A little bit higher."  I said,

And I stretched my arm longer this time.

"Have you reached it yet?" He said,

"Almost,"

He carried me higher.

I... I reached it.

I climb all the way to the top.

I made it. Finally!

"Give me a hand." He said,

I grab his hand, and the others helped me to pull him out.

We made it out safely.

"Phew, now that's a relief." I swiped my sweat of off my forhead.

My arm dropped down,

And James caught it,

"What are you doing?" I said, trying to free my arm from his hand.

"Once I see you again," he leaned forward, "You're totally dead." He said,

He walks away with his friends.

"Why can't we kill each other now, it'll be more fun to do it now!" I said,

"Maddie, let him go. Maybe he was just tired from that accident. And you DID landed on him." Carl said,

Oh yeah, that hole was deep.

And I remembered I broke half of his bones right about now.
