Chapter 24 - Sunday (Performance)

(Maddie's Pov)

"Why did you have to break your ankle? You could have break it after the performance James, you know we only have twenty minutes left before the program starts."

It's 8:10 in the evening. We were at the backstage, and we're the next one to perform.

She was scolding James for ruining this night.

"Why did you have to play basketball when you know the performance is tonight?"

"I didn't have a choice, coach Evans begged me to play with the other school." James here made an excuse.

"Who will be the escort now?" I asked,

"Mr. Watson, could you be the escort?" Ms. Audrey asked.

"Me," Drake said,

"Yes, well since you know all the steps better than the other boys and you're pretty handsome than I expected. You'll be perfect for Maddie."

"What," I added,

"He'll be perfect for you to partner with him." Ms. Audrey explained,

"Ahh okay then," I said,

"James, give him your tux." Ms. Audrey said,

James threw it to Drake,

"Manners please!" Ms. Audrey said,

I was standing beside James, he looked like his angry for some reasons.

"Do you think his a better escort than you?" I said, teasing him.

"Because I think he is." I added,

"No, I mean look at him. He IS handsome, he's a good dancer but he- uhh, I-I'm still better." He said,

It's really obvious.

He's Jealous...

"Really, cause everyone think he's the best."
"No, I'm still a better escort, and I'm still the best for you." He said,

"What?" I asked,

The best for who now?

"I mean, the best for a partner."

They called us now, it's our turn to perform.
We all went on the stage and James went in his seat.

(James's Pov)

They started performing,

It kinda disappoints me by the way.

I was the first one who's picked to be the escort, not that Drake guy.

That reminds me one thing.

Why do I care???

What's happening to James Stanford the baddest boy in school.

I shook my head when I was staring at HER.

And quickly get out of that room to get my mind of this feelings.

(Maddie's Pov)

We were done! Done performing,

"You guys were great!" Mitch shouted at both of us, and she hugged me after.

"No, we're all great." I said to all of them.

"Alright, go change your clothes to your most comfortable one's and go back here as soon as you're finished. They're gonna announce the winners." Ms. Audrey said,

Hey, where's that jerk gone?

I looked for him around, but Mitch and Penny started to pull me carrying their clothes.
