Chapter 20 - The Deal

(James's Pov)

I've parked my car in front of the school.

I went out and walked all the way in.

But something caught my attention, it was Maddie, on the rooftop.

I admit, it was actually my fault why she fainted.

If I didn't make a fuss to dance with her, we wouldn't have to be wet in the rain yesterday.

My feet started to walk on the wrong direction.

Where is it going?

(Maddie's Pov)

I'm here at the rooftop, watching the people down the ground.

All to myself, with my forearms on the parapet.

"It's that a rain cloud? Ugh!" I said,

"Then you should better get out of here before you faint again." Someone said behind me.

I didn't intend to look, 'cause I already know who it is.

He stood beside me, and he leaned to the wall, his elbows on the Parapet.

"What are you doing here?" I said, "You're here to apologise?"

"No,"

I figured he would say that.

"Jerk," I said,

He got pissed off again.

"You know I just wish you would get out of my life, you know that?" He said,

I want the same thing from him.

"Okay," I said, "Let's make a deal then."

He stood straight in front of me.

"I'm listening," he said,

"You will cooperate during dance practice,"

"Hell no," he said,

"I'm not finish." I shouted at him. "The two of us will forget that we're enemies, we will forget that we ever fought until the end of the performance by Sunday."

"What's in it for me?"

"I, I will apologise to you. I would even kneel down if you like, and after we will forget that we ever met."

"Sounds good, especially the part when you said that you'll kneel down." He laughed,

I'm trying not to get annoyed with him.

"Let me get this straight." He said,

"You want us to forget that we're enemies for three days just for the dance. And after the performance, you'll apologise and after we'll forget each other."

"Exactly," I said,

"How would you know I'll accept your apology?"

"Didn't we want to kill each other for that apology?" I said, "Come on, we have a deal or not?" I lent out a hand.

"Fine," He shook my hand, "I'm just doing this to get you out of my life for good."

"Same here," I let go of his hand.

And left him the rooftop.

I went down to the library to read some books alone, since the three of my friends are book haters.

I sat on an empty table with three thick book about biology.

I started reading.

When someone sat infront of me, in my table.

I didn't dare to look at him.

"Wow, you must really like books." He said, in a friendly way.

"Uhh yeah, it kinda exercises my brain a lot." I said, and I lifted my head up to look at him but he looked away.

I didn't saw his face,

It was obviously not the jerk, because he talks to me in a formal and a friendly way.

"So how long have you been in Julliard?" He said,

I didn't look at him, instead I continued reading and gave him an answer.

"Not long than a week." I said, and turned the other page of my book. "You?" I asked him.

"Actually, this is my first day here." He said,

That made me stopped reading, I looked at him.

But he looked away again.

What's wrong with this guy? It's like he doesn't want me to see him.

"Oh, you're new here." I said,

"Yeah," He said,

He turned his head at me, and instead of making eyecontacts, he tilted his head down.

I continued reading,

"I gotta go," He stood up fromhis chair.

"Okay," I just said.

"Nice meeting you, Maddie."

Wait,

He knows me? I didn't even told him my name yet.

I looked at him, but I didn't saw his face nor his back, after putting his hood on.

Who is that guy?

I closed my book and returned it on the shelves after hearing the bell rang.

It means it lunch time, and I have to meet Mitch, Carl, and Penny in the canteen.

(Mitch's Pov)

I'm sitting between Carl and Penny, still waiting for Maddie.

"Ugh, where is that girl?" I said, and took a big bite on my burger.

My phone rang, I answered Maddie's call.

"Maddie," I said,

"I'm here. I can't find you guys, where are you?"

"Look up," I said,

We were at the balcony.

Carl waved her, I mean his hand for Maddie to see us.

"Maddie, we're here." Penny shouted,

Maddie climed up here.

"Here's your food." I said, stretching my arms to reach Maddie.

I took one big bite on my Burger,

I coughed, I was choking.

Good thing Penny gave me a water.

I drank it,

And I spit it away.

"Gross, what has gone into you?" Carl said,

I SAW SOMEONE!!!

I saw someone down there.

I widened my eyes as big as an owl.

Oh my god.

Why is he here?!
